On New Years Eve 2012, we celebrated our one year anniversary. To celebrate the occasion we brewed our largest beer yet! ”The Devil’s Right Hand” as it has come to be known, is our take on an original American Style of beer called a Texas Brown Ale. In the brewhouse we used five different types of malt, including 2-row pale, two types of Crystal malts, Cara malt, Wheat and unrefined dark brown sugar. For hopping we chose three varieties that would help accentuate the complexity of the malt. In the boil we used an American classic variety Centennial and an old English hop called Fuggles. After Fermentation the beer was aggressively dry hopped with a newer variety called Citra. The aroma is deep and rich, dominated by strong top notes of grapefruit, melon and lychee with the subtle inviting underlying aromas of brown sugar playing a memorable supporting role. The beer is calculated to be 95 IBU’s and weighs in at an impressive 8.3% ABV. As with all beer this one is meant to be enjoyed fresh and in moderation! The Devil’s Right Hand is currently available at our tasting room for sale in 32oz growlettes. Come get it while it lasts, and remember what your mama said “this beer is the Devil’s right hand”!
