Sampled on 2/17/2011 on tap at Beer Revolution. This American Strong Ale pours a medium reddish brown color from the tap. Small to medium sized white foamy head with decent retention. The aroma is fruity, caramel and sweet, wood and bourbon. A medium to full bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are fruity, caramel and sweet, with a touch of chocolate. The hops are herbal, earthy and citrusy. Good carbonation. Nice balance. Hints of wood and bourbon balance with the big malts and huge hops . Nice sipping beer. Hides the 10% alcohol well. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
