Rated in Jan. 2010. Pours deep copper to amber with thin off white head. The aroma is candied prunes, brown sugar, modest vanilla, dark fruitiness and a touch of citrus. The vanilla makes the aroma seem barrel aged on the occasional whiff. Interesting. The taste is oh so smooth and sweet with vanilla, sweet vanilla and rich vanilla. That robust note carries into some dark fruity notes and hints of citrus hop flavor. Each sip, kind of like the aroma, gives a brief sense this is barrel aged with the smooth rich vanilla running from beginning to end mixing with the rich sweet malt notes.
