I've had far better bitters than this. Not as reddish-gold as a good bitter would be, and the aromas were all off. No citrusy hops whatsoever. The flavour was acidic with a weak finish and quite thin.

It pours a light amber, thin but dimpled white head and some lacing. A sweet and spicy aroma of caramel malts, hops, tangerine, berries, honey, and even grapes. The mouthfeel is smooth yet thin and watery .Flavors of caramel malts, hops, grass, lemons/citrus, tart, and mild spices. Tasty but too thin.

Hazy orange colour, small off-white head. Flavour is hoppy, fruity and caramellish. Flavour is quite fruity and sweet (nectarish). A bit watery, but still drinkable.

Pours a hazy translucent yellow-amber. Sweet and sour aroma; bready, but gets fruitier. The mild bitterness of hops is in the foreground, with underlying malt. Nicely balanced. Substantial, good body, warming. Feels good on the tongue and in the belly.

This one poured a really pale clear golden yellow color, but with a fluffy and pillowy head that made it respectable. The aroma was fruity and grassy. The flavor was rather complex for the color and style: fruity (apricots and peaches), citrus, honey, with some grassiness. The finish was hoppy, very dry, and had some metallic aspects to it, unfortunately (otherwise, flavor would have bumped up one). Mouthfeel was pretty carbonated, but somewhat of a light to moderate body. Not bad, but not worth import prices, definitely not in a bottle.

Strong apple nose mixed with citrus odors upon opening that faded slightly, but stuck around for the entire bottle. Pale golden in color with a full head. A little bit light in mouthfeel, but not enough to be a distraction. Sour apple notes carry through to the taste and IMO are what make this beer better than average. A tiny bit of hops in the finish do well to accent the fruity sourness. Broughton makes another good one.

Poured a bright gold with lots of carbonation bubbles. A large white head. The aroma is lemons with some light bread and caramel. The taste is a smoky citrus and some tobacco. There is also some spicy cinnamon in the finish. Fairly dry. Light and refreshing, different for a bitter. I would like a little more body.

Bottle. Golden in color and slightly hazy. The beer has a nice lasting white head. Fruity aroma. Spicey. Light and crisp flavor. Ok beer..

A very malty and slightly bready aroma. The appearance is a dark golden color with a foamy white head. The flavor is buttered popcorn with a hint of citrus. It is slightly bitter but mostly a malt fest. This one really coats your mouth. Strange fellow this Merlin.
