Sampled during RBSG 7/11/2009 on tap at the brewery. This American Strong Ale pours a dark reddish color from the tap. Small to medium sized beige foamy head. The aroma is malty with some piney hops. A medium bodied American Strong Ale. The malts are caramel and sweet. The hops are piney and grapefruity. Nice balance. Good carbonation. Nice Amped up version of Red Rocket. Lots of malts, lots of hops. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

this is the newbie i was looking forward too most, and it was not a letdown. toeing the line between strong ale and barleywine. it's one of the rare "doubles" that still manages to taste like the beer it was based on, but on a much grander scale. I'm a big fan of the aggressive nature of red Rocket, and this one is even better. thicker, fuller body. a dark ruby color. big hops and malt on the nose. a little metallic from some peet, still hoppy and malty sweet. thick. great brew...rivals the Bear's best!
