I'd yet to see the regular barley wine in bottles so imagine my surprise when we spotted a wine barrel aged bottle at a Roseville, ca Whole Foods. Pours pretty dark, aroma and flavor fruity with heavy oak, pepper, and a real nice balance with the base beer. Slightly astringent with a tart finish. Just the right amount of sweetness with a pronounced vinous quality. One of their best!
