Our fourth anniversary beer was crafted to make you feel wealthy: a sweet, rich and heavily malted Barley Wine Ale brewed with English yeast then aged in European Cognac barrels.

Pours barely translucent chocolate brown with a decent light tan head. Fruity at a is sweet but not cloying. Fruit dominates the flavor but lets woody hop and malt notes share the stage. Mouthfeel features firm body and OK fizz. Feel like a billionaire!

VERY Ennglish...from the lack of hops, to the yeast, to the lighter than most American brews barrel character. I'll admit to hoping the cognac would come through a little more, but it was still very pleasant. A good but not great carmelly toffee and vanilla and fruit barleywine. Best attribute was the lack of heat for such a strong beer, and the silky smooth body. Won't be back at $16 a bottle, though. More cognac, please :)
