bottle 2 Okocim tasting: really, fairly hard to tell apart from the pils but for the alcohol bite. better body, maybe, but not one you want to have warm as the alcohol comes out a little too much in the aroma. Grain and faint hops. OK.

Not the worst strong lager I've ever had, but not the best either. The colour is the best thing about this beer. Clear, gold, with a nice sized bubbly white head head. The alcohol is pronounced in both the aroma and flavour,m and that is quite offputting. All malt, no balance.

The beer poured a translucent gold with a 1/2" off-white head that lingererd for a while. The aroma is sweet corn, alcohol, and a weak wisp of hops, The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is grainy malt, slightky sweet, and alcohol.

Bottle: Poured a deep clear golden color ale with a medium pure white foamy head with minimal retention and not much lacing. Aroma of sweet adjunct is not too strong but not that pleasant either. Taste is also dominated by sweet adjunct with light cardboard notes. Body is slightly oily with medium carbonation. Not something I really cared about or that I would need to revisit again.

Pours pale, clear gold with a small white head that fades in seconds. Leaves just a tiny bit of lacing on the glass. Smells sweet, slightly fruity with an underlying Lager aroma. Flavour is a little bland with an initial sweetness balanced out by a light bitter follow, alcohol is well hidden until it warms in your stomach. Nothing special but not offensive. Soft medium bodied mouthfeel with medium-low carbonation.

Harsh bite and quite smooth finish makes this a reasonable strong lager (a far cry from some of the cheap barley wines you get in england). However, it seems to lack the something special we all look for in a beer. Nice, but bland and uninteresting.

A decent, heavier malt liquor that I for some reason really enjoy. Dark yellow colour, nice big head, aroma is very malty. It does give you a nice buzz ,thats for sure.

Hmmmm. A Polish version of Mickey's? God I hope not. Let's see here. Pours out a deeep, rich golden color, which a huge, foamy white head with little lacing, but there was foam sticking to the glass. Aroma is was actually decent with notes of honey, some grassy hops, some alcohol burn and corn. Mouthfeel was medium in body, slightly thick and somewhat chewy. Flavor of this beer was some metal, a good dose of grassy hops, some sweet flavors going on but overall a bit boring. To be honest, nothing awful about this, but like most Euro lagers nothing really to make me take note of either. Passable beer, but barely.

Slightly pale gold colour with small foamy head that dissaperaed quickly but left a sticky lace half way down the glass. This is close to a malt liqour style beer. Great for getting drunk for little cash. On the bright side, it was a fair bit smoother than say, olde english and left little aftertaste. The alcohol is really prevelant in this beer but overall for a strong lager it's pretty good. Difficult to rate because it's pretty shite but good for what it's trying to do.

First off - BBD was just overdue at 31-07-06 (I'll take the '06 as the year). Secondly, this beer is never really good - always has too much alcohol reek, taste and burn. Nothing has changed. Golden orange and poured hardly any head, but managed to maintain a white ring. Considering the lack of head, it produces some lacing. A little carbonation and a very small ammount of floaties, but overall quite clear. Smell is sweet (maybe honey) with average malt aroma and slight grain, but for most of the tasting the alcohol fumes hang out - not overpowering, just noticable. More alcohol taste. Now that I know better, I'll admit that this does have a decent ammount of malt, but the alcohol coats it pretty good. Mouthfeel is decent: medium bodied, smooth, adequate carbonation, too much alcohol and a nice sweet bitter finish that accompanies a chest burn. This isn't Crest Super, but why bother producing this unless your target consumer is piss-drunks. Once again, I've left this sit poured a very long time and now it's quite drinkable where as when it's colder it's hard to choke down. But if you open this, you're gonna want polish (pronounced with a soft 'o', not a hard 'o') this off in a hurry so you can get something that you'll actually enjoy. I just finished it and got quite the buzz. I highly recommend Staropolskie Mocne as the beyond superior alternative. I believe the ingredients of this brew at as follows: water, malts, potato vodka. I've got to recommend this to the drunk indians at my liquor store who have a pocket of change that they found in the parking lot and are looking for that single can of Olympia to get buzzed on. Best thing about this beer is the label and the Okocim coat of arms - it's got a mountain goat just about to hump a giant glass of beer. And if you look very closely, the goat is actually frenching the foam with his eyes closed - no joke. Very odd indeed. Cheers goes to that horny goat!
