This dark stout is a hearty and satisfying reward for those of us who embrace the frozen tundra. Uncut oatmeal fresh from Chilton, Wisconsin gives this stout a "sink into it" smoothness that slides you into its depth. Handcrafted English Chocolate malt and Wisconsin Victory malt combine to balance this robust ale. Expect this ale to pour a luxurious head over a rich black ruby body. The powerful malt bouquet will greet you as you tip this silky smoothness from your glass. Our Oatmeal Stout is handcrafted in the time honored traditions. Serve just above room temperature and relax - road construction season will soon return.

Well crafted oatmeal stout send from Mr. heybeerman. Medium bodied and easy going as this style should be. Big nuttiness with a heavy roasted malt and sweet caramel profile followed by some smooth chocolate. This one hits all the right aspects. Dark brown color, thin tan head and solid lacing.

Love it, love it, love it. This beer tastes like hershey's special dark, maybe better. It has the nose of a cigar and a nice rich foam. Until I met this beer, Hinterland's Winterland was my favorite dark chocolatey brew, now its this. The orange color on the bottle is a little deceiving, cause its a nice dark chocolate brown. I just wanna put one in the freezer in a paper bag for half an hour and see if I can make a slushy out of it.

I am not one to tout NG just because of the label but this is a damn fine oatmeal stout. Aroma is coffee and nuts, flavors of strong roasted malts, coffee and a smooth sweetness. The sweetness helps cut the sharpness of the oatmeal so you get a nice balanced, chewy stout.

Growing up in Montreal, I know all about road slush....we have it for 4 months after all. THis is a hearty ale. Great combination of roast, nut, and coffee aromas, with a full-bodied creaminess. The flavours were coffee, nuts, cocoa, and a hint of vanilla...oops. you missed it.

a budget SS Oatmeal Stout clone! Holy crap...I don't know that i can tell the two apart. they nailed it...so here's my review for Sam Smiths...only difference is a half point lower for feel. "still the benchmark as far as Oatmeal Stouts are concerned. I'm glad SS no longer does the clear glass bottles...it was hit or miss whether or not your beer would be spoiled, but now it's always great. Perfect nose, great smooth mouthfeel, if a little thin. Roasted everything, highly drinkable."

This beer pours a dark black color with a small off white head. Smell of chocolate, coffee, malt. Flavor is chocolate and coffee and is very smooth. A really nice aftertaste. Good beer.

A solid pour produces a three finger thick, lightly browned, fairly dense, tan colored head. The beer is a very dark brown, really almost black color that shows a brilliantly clear, rich ruby hue when held up to the light. The aroma smells up front of chocolated, but is quickly dominated by toasted grain notes, some burnt raisin aromas, burnt grain notes as well as notes of charred whole grain bread crust.

This is nice and roast focused without being too harsh. Up front this has a lightness to it that quickly gets a touch viscous as the beer slides across the tongue; the light-medium body helps to balance the dominant roast character. This does finish with a big roast character that produces a dry, bitter finish that lingers on the palate. A touch of dark cocoa is noticeable up front just before the roast character fully kicks in. The beer is then dominated by blackly toasted bread / grain notes, lightly sharp black coffee flavors and a touch of burnt-induced acidity. A touch of malty sweetness becomes a bit more noticeable as the beer warms, but this still finishes quite dry.

This is a nice example of a roast forward stout. I like that it remains balanced / in check and the roast character does not get overly astringent or acidic. I would be quite happy reaching for this when I wanted a session stout.

Bottle courtesy of Oakbluff: Poured a clear black color stout with a big light brown foamy head with good retention and good lacing. Aromas of dry roasted notes are dominating. Taste is also dominated by quite dry roasted malt with very little else to report. Body is a bit light for the style with some great carbonation and no apparent alcohol. Overall, I thought this beer was simple without much complexity but still well done for the style. I have to admit that I have taste better beer form this brewer.

Courtesy of pfoxyjohn per beer trade. Pours a rich deep ruby-black with an awesome tannish head that is well sustained leaving nice lacing. Slight carbonation. Aromas of rich dark chocolates, sweet roasted malts and some hops. Some sweetness in taste with a warm toasted malts and bitter chocolateness and a very slight hops finish.

I liked this one, and I normally dont like dark beer. Poured a dark black color with a thin head. It a mild aroma with a slightly sweet malty taste. I cant describe it exactly, but it was definetely tasty.
