It is a real "man’s beer" with lots of tar, smoke, burnt malt – aged in scotch whisky barrels. It has quite a bit of smoked and roasted malts, honey is just 3%.

Pours out in a opaque black colour topped with a small creamy pale brown head. Tar, wood, anise, black pepper, black chocolate and burnt sugar in the rich and bold aroma. Full-bodied with rich and chewy notes of tar, wood, anise-seeds, salty licorice, black chocolate, honey and iodine. Long bitter and tarry finish of wood, tar, whiskey and honey.

Bottled@Plan B, Copenhagen. Quite much pitch black colour, small brown head. Aroma is liquorice, toffee, dark fruits, alcohol, some mild honey as well as ashes. Flavour is quite similar with some slight notes of smoked wet wood and tar as well. Quite wellbalanced.

black with cocoa head. charred aroma with a touch of chocolate and some coffee. roasted malt. full bodied but not thick. more complex than the scotch barreled black hole, and not as dominated by smoky peet, though that is still the biggest player. the honey is a minor player that comes through in the finish. warming with a lasting finish. tasty, but still pretty harsh - a whole bottle might be a chore.

Aroma is rich and oily with strong tones of brown sugar and caramel as well as a hint of quality coffee. It pours a deep opaque sable with a nice thick fine-bubbled tan head that sticks around for a while and leaves some good lacing. Flavor has tones of sweet chocolate, molasses and coffee with a hint of toffee and a fierce but not overpowering alcohol bite. Texture is smooth and oily, with a ragged fizz due to the high alcohol content. I recommend this one to all stoutie fans, especially if you're not afraid of a booze bite.

500 ml bottle, from Voldby Købmandsgård. Batch #427. ABV is 11.5%. Pitch black colour, huge chocolate brown head. Strong roasty aroma with notes of coffee and tar, also notes of peaty smoke (from the whisky barrel, obviously - and the smoked malts), hints of sea water, dark dried fruits and oak, some vinous notes too. The flavour is extremely intense, loads of tar, very strong coffee, oak and smoke. The honey is barely noticeable. Quite bitter, with an ashy finish. Not for the faint of heart.
