Festivus Festivus. A hoppy Black Ale for the rest of us. When faced with a grievous circumstance, sometimes the best solution is stubborn bitterness. The unwillingness to let a lost cause go and an affinity for piney, resinous hops came together in the North Texas winter. The debate over Black IPA vs Cascadian Dark Ale has taken on absurd proportions, and so has our entry, the Hoppy Black Ale, or as we prefer to call it, Festivus, our feat of strength.

    Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

The beer pours a dark brown to black color with a small tan head, that leaves some nice thick lace. The aroma is has a lot of roasted and light chocolate malts, with a little bit of pine also thrown in. The flavor is very similar. There are some nice pine and orange notes from the hops, but they are balanced and complimented by the chocolate and roasted malts. The bitterness is low to medium. Medium, creamy mouthfeel and medium carbonation. An average black IPA/ Ale.
