In Ojibwe, wild rice is known as Manoomin. In Bavaria, Doppelbock names end in "-ator". Manoomator is a biligualized term describing a Doppelbock with wild rice included in the grist. The result is a rich maltness tempered by a unique nutty fruitiness. How to describe? Intriguing!

This bottle dropped of by Slim Jim by way of PfoxyJohn. Beautiful clear amber-copper pour, very tight cream white head, spotty lacing. Rich sweet malty and light alcohol nose and palate, a touch of toffee and butterscotch (in a good way), some nuts and green apples, biscuits, more malts. Big and flavorful, very nice Doppelbock. Thanks Jim and John! Loved it.

No doubt in my mind that Capital makes the best Dopplebocks around. They never disappoint. Pours a cloudy, reddish brown. Head is fairly large. Taste is hot, well hopped and acidic. Very abundant nose and flavors of ripe fruit, dates, caramel and spice. Tasty as hell.

A cidery smelling beer, slight sour and fruit notes in the nose. Looks like a dark cider too, very fizzy. The flavor is a little like a rich german bock mixed with wild rice and cereal grains. A nicely balanced beer with just the right amounts of all ingredients.
