2226 | Muskoka Shinnicked Stout | Canada | Stout | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
5.2% ABV
Best Before: June 5, 2019
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
January 11, 2019
$3.45
The beer pours a coca-cola colour with absolutely no head. Kind of disappointing from the head perspective. The aroma is all roasted malt and coffee with a minor hint of vanilla. Not much in the way of multiple dimensions here. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with below average carbonation. I am now pretty sure that this beer is flat or old. Either way, quite disappointed. The flavour is similar to the aroma with a lot of roasted malts and bitter coffee notes hiding a weak vanilla and chocolate presence. I may try again down the road but this was a disappointment. |

2227 | Kingsville Brewing Woodrunner | Canada | Stout | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
6.7% ABV
Canned On: December 6, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
February 7, 2019
$3.25
The beer pours a solid black colour with a generous creamymy chocolate milk coloured head. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, chocolate, and a hint of vanilla. It says barrel aged on the can, but I can’t detect any in the aroma. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation, a bit disappointed it isn’t creamy and more full bodied. The barrel aging can be tasted in the flavour as there is definitely some wood notes on the tongue, very dry wood notes. Not as much coffee in the flavour as the aroma. A decent effort by a small brewer. |

2228 | Innis & Gunn Limited Edition Kindred Spirits | United Kingdom | Stout | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 330ml bottle
6.1% ABV
Best Before: November 1, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
April 1, 2019
$4.95
The beer pours a very dark brown colour with a generous rocky light brown head which lasts several minutes. The aroma was burnt wood, molasses, whiskey, and roasted malt. The mouthfeel was full bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour lacks the punch of the aroma with notes of roasted malt, some bitter soy sauce notes, dark chocolate, and minor hints of burnt wood and whiskey. While I’m not a fan of in your face barrel aged beers, I do expect there to be some barrel character and this has it, but not enough of it. |

2229 | Great Lakes Brewery Shinny Pants Session Stout | Canada | Stout | 3.0
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.3% ABV
Canned On: November 19, 2019
LCBO Outlet #411 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Wellesley)
December 7, 2019
$3.00
The beer pours a solid black colour with a creamy short lived light brown cap. The aroma is roasted malt, light hints of coffee, and weak soy sauce and vanilla notes. I hope it tastes better than it smells. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, and chicoree with a weak bitter finish. For a 4.3% stout, it comes across as pretty weak. |

2230 | Boss Brewing Black | United Kingdom | Stout | 3.3
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 500ml bottle
5.0% ABV
Best Before: July 31, 2020
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill)
December 14, 2019
$3.75
The beer pours a solid black colour, with some translucence around the edges, topped by a medium brown creamy cap. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is more sweet than bitter with hints of roasted malt, chocolate milk, and a very weak bitter finish. Goes down easy but nothing special. |

2231 | 2 Way Brewing Heart of Darkness | United States | Stout | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 10oz draught
6.0% ABV
House Beer Tasting (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
September 5, 2020
The beer pours a very dark brown, and almost black. The head is chocolate brown, creamy, and half an inch thick. Lacing is generous. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted nuts, coffee, and vanilla. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation, a little weak for the style. This is a bitter beer. There is a little sweetness, but for the most part the coffee and hops give this a bitter finish. |

2232 | Muskoka Moonlight Kettle Series 2019 - 10: Ghost Out White Stout | Canada | Stout | 3.2
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 12oz draught
6.5% ABV
C'est What? (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
October 11, 2019
$8.25
The beer poured a translucent golden brown with a white head which lasted a while and laced decently. The aroma was grass, herbal hops, and light yeast. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was nothing like the aroma. The first flavour I got was pepper, followed by cold sweet coffee and grass. This was a very interesting beer. |

2233 | Nickel Brook Black Light All Night Stout | Canada | Stout | 2.8
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 April 26, 2022
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
473ml can
4.50% ABV
Canned On: February 23, 2022
$2.40
The beer pours a solid black with a bubbly brown head that stays for a few minutes. There is no lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, nuts, soy sauce, and coffee. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma with roasted malt, soy sauce, and coffee as the predominant notes. Nickel Brook can make a much better stout than this. Having been canned only 9 weeks ago I would have expected. |

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 750ml bottle
8.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
May 10, 2014
The beer pours a translucent golden-red with a half inch white head that quickly settles down. Aroma is grainy with some sweet and spicy notes. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. Quite possibly the fullest bodied golden ale I've had. Flavour is not my cup of tea. Very acidic and a leathery note predominates, while hints of grains and caramel are hidden. Not something I would try again. |
