The mouthfeel is full bodied, very creamy, and well carbonated. The flavour is chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. There is a definite sweetness up front that eventually gives way to a bitter roasty finish. An excellent beer.

Maybe things are different in Virginia, but this beer falls short of the Imperial Stout on every beer web site. The beer pours black with a huge frothy brown head which doesn’t last very long. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and weak hints of dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. The beer is very one dimensional.

The flavour is bourbon and wood with some hints of chocolate and cold pressed coffee in the background. The discernable imperial stout notes are warming and tasty, but the bourbon and wood are overpowering.

The aroma is oak, coffee, roasted malt, and a hint of molasses. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. The flavour is toasted oak, coffee, and vanilla. Well hopped in the finish. A very good beer with a lot of wood characters without the alcohol being dominant.

Lots of burnt wood is present as well.

The aroma is dominated by roasted malt, coffee, and maple. Closer analysis reveals notes of grass, vanilla, and dark chocolate as well. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, chalky, and with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma, roasted malt sweetened my maple, with a mildly bitter hop finish.

The flavour is roasted malt, milk chocolate, and pepper in the finish. Alcohol wasn't at all noticeable. Not a bad beer, but nothing that puts this in the top tier of Imperial Stouts either.

The aroma is dominated by roasted coffee and dark chocolate but there are hints of nutmeg present. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. The bottle says the beer is brewed with cocoa, coffee, peppers, vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg and while the peppers, vanilla, and cinnamon are lost in the aroma, they can all be detected in the flavour. The peppers provide a perfect amount of heat, for me anyway, to make this the best beer I've tried in a long time.

The aroma is roasted malt, smoked malt, soy sauce, and dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is full bodied, well carbonated, and very creamy. The flavour is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and peppery spice. Maybe even a hint of coffee. The beer came with quite a reputation and it lives up to it. An excellent beer.

The aroma is on the boozy side with heavy notes of bourbon and oak up front, and subtle hints of coffee, chocolate, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is full bodied and creamy with above average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, oak and bourbon with some small hints of vanilla seeping through. Definitely too much barrel character for me, but an excellent beer nonetheless.

While the bar I was at has been in contact with the brewer and it's rep in Canada due to the possibility of quality issues, the brewer insists that what's in the bottle is the proper beer. The beer poured a solid reddish-broen colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was yeast, dark fruits, and grains. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with above average carbonation. The flavour was tart fruit and yeast, with some graininess. Despite what the brewer says, I believe that the beer I had was a sour Belgian Strong Ale and not an Imperial Stout as the bottle/label/brewer suggests. I have graded it as what it was supposed to be.

The flavour is well balanced between sweet chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt, and licorice. Rich and decadent, and maybe too much so.

The flavour was sour to start, with alcohol the next most prominent flavour before ending with a better dose or roast, chocolate, and leather. There was a definite peppery aftertaste. This beer was not for me!

The flavour definitely has chocolate milk characteristics, although it is dark chocolate. I liked this beer, but not as much as their Morning Brew Coffee Cream Stout.

Flavour is all roasted malt and very bitter coffee. No noticeable vanilla in the flavour, but more importantly, no noticeable alcohol flavour either.

The flavour is very chocolatey with a nice backbone of roasted malt. Kind of one dimensional in flavour, but at the same time, that one dimension tastes great!
