As soon as the can is opened, you can smell graham crackers, but once in the glass, the aroma is primarily roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is full bodied, very creamy, and well carbonated. The flavour is chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. There is a definite sweetness up front that eventually gives way to a bitter roasty finish. An excellent beer.

Maybe things are different in Virginia, but this beer falls short of the Imperial Stout on every beer web site. The beer pours black with a huge frothy brown head which doesn’t last very long. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and weak hints of dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. The beer is very one dimensional.

The aroma is a wake me up blast of coffee and chocolate nibs as well as dark fruit (think chocolate covered raspberries). The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between sweet chocolate, dark fruit, roasted malt, and licorice. Rich and decadent, and maybe too much so.

The flavour was sour to start, with alcohol the next most prominent flavour before ending with a better dose or roast, chocolate, and leather. There was a definite peppery aftertaste. This beer was not for me!

The flavour definitely has chocolate milk characteristics, although it is dark chocolate. I liked this beer, but not as much as their Morning Brew Coffee Cream Stout.

The flavour is roasted malt, smoked wood, coffee, and anise. Finish is very bitter, almost rubber flavoured. Alcohol was well hidden, but not what I was expecting, and quite a letdown.

The flavour is bourbon and wood with some hints of chocolate and cold pressed coffee in the background. The discernable imperial stout notes are warming and tasty, but the bourbon and wood are overpowering.

Well hopped in the finish. A very good beer with a lot of wood characters without the alcohol being dominant.

The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, chalky, and with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma, roasted malt sweetened my maple, with a mildly bitter hop finish.
