July 28, 2009
LCBO Outlet #483A (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Union Station I)
500ml can
4.60% ABV (as displayed on can)
Canned On: Unknown
$2.25
As mentioned by other reviewers, the can says 4.6%. The beer poured a translucent gold, with a thin white foamy head which lasted, and was highly effervescent. The aroma was primarily grainy malt, with some freshly baked bread and a hint of hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was very grainy. A typical pale lager.

473ml can
5.0% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
November 18, 2013
This is all the rage with a former girlfriend (from Saskatchewan) and seeing it as a single at a local LCBO I had to try and see what the fuss was about. It pours a pale gold colour with a white fluffy head and a lot of effervescence. The aroma is grain/corn, diacetyl, and weak hops. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. Flavour is quite grainy, but that's expected for a macro lager.

473ml can
5.0% ABV
Queen's Quay LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
October 11, 2014
The beer pours a translucent medium gold colour with a 1" white head. The aroma is stale grains, weak floral hops, and metallic notes. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grainly, slightly sour, and salty and acidic notes. Not very refreshing at all. Based on others who have tried it, they must have had a better batch, because this is awful.

550ml draught
5.7% ABV
C'est What? (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
February 5, 2015
The beer poured a translucent metallic gold with a thin white film for a head that disappeared quickly. The aroma was fruity with grains and weak spices in the mix. The mouthfeel was thin bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was grainy with hints of yeast and light fruit. I was unable to get into this one.

2257 Mill Street Hopped and Confused Canada IPA 2.3

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

473ml can
4.7% ABV
Main/Bronte LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 20, 2018
$3.25
The beer pours a medium urine yellow colour with a thin white film that stands in for a head. Very hazy and very unappealing to look at. The aroma is light tropical fruit, some grass, and some lemony scents. The mouthfeel is watery with below averahe carbonation. Despite biying this 2 days ago, this could be an old beer based on appearance, aroma and mouthfeel. The flavour is grainy malt, tropical fruits, and a weak bitter finish. I don’t expect Mill Street to make world beating beers, especially now that they are under the Labatt (i.e. Anheuser-Busch-Inbev) umbrella, but I do expect better than this.

650ml bottle
6.5% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 5, 2011
The beer poured a translucent ruby red with a 1" tan coloured bubbly head. The aroma is maple first, sweet malt and floral hops second. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is sweet maple, sweet malt and nothing else. A good idea, but not much substance to support it.

473ml can
4.4% ABV
Canned On: October 29, 2020
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
January 22, 2021
$3.45
The beer pours a very pale straw colour with a very short lived white head that recedes to very few bubbles. The aroma is dominated by the ginger, but there are notes of earthy hops, cereal malt, and light yeast. It says lime on the can, but I don’t sense any. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is awful. The peppery heat overpowers the malt and ginger notes and there is little bitterness in the finish.

The beer pours a translucent light copper colour with a heavy off-white head which leaves some nice lacing. The aroma is light caramel, cereal malts, and weak herbal hops. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is acidic on the tongue with no discernible beer flavours whatsoever. Maybe cheap beers don’t need love!

2265 DAB Maibock Germany Bock 2.3

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3

500ml can
7.00% ABV
Canned On: May 16, 2018
Best Before: August 16, 2019
Yonge Eglinton Centre LCBO Outlet (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
August 8, 2018
$2.60
The beer pours a translucent gold colour with good effervescence, and with a generous bubbly off-white head that quickly disappears to a light film. The aroma was grains, alcohol, and earthy hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was sweet and grainy with a definite alcohol presence and some old leathery notes. I'm quite surprised that D.A.B. would pass a beer like this off as a Maibock when it more closely resembles a beer like the Crest and Faxe 10% strong lagers. I rarely drain-pour a beer, and I can't remember the last time I did it, but add this beer to the short list of my drain-pours (I almost feel sorry for the drain).

2266 Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Crème de Menthe) United States Milk Stout 2.3

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 6, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 3, 2018
$3.49
The beer, when held up to a strong white light, pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges. There is very little to no cap to speak of, aside from a small brown island of bubbles. The two predominant aromas are alcohol (it’s only 4.5%) and mint. Closer inspection reveals roasted malt, chocolate, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is very thin, almost soda pop thin which goes along with being a translucent stout and quickly disappearing head. The flavour is very weak, almost watered down. There are weak hints of roasted malt and chocolate with a hint of mint. This did not make for a good beer, but would have made for a great soft drink.

2268 Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Chocolate Cheesecake) United States Milk Stout 2.2

Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 4, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 8, 2018
$3.49
The beer, when held up to a strong white light, pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges. The head starts out very generous and is light brown, but quickly dissipates allowing the rest of the can to be poured. The first thing you smell is chocolate milk, the Sealtest variety, followed by weak roasted malts and coffee. As with the other stouts out of this box (only 1 more to go Thank God!) the mouthfeel is thin bodied, however unlike the others, this one is undercarbonated. The flavour is nothing like any chocolate cheesecake I would want to try. In fact, this tastes pretty close to a Yoo-Hoo soft drink. I think I may avoid Rochester Mills in the future.

The aroma is grainy malt, wet grass, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bitter leather, with notes of grass. The taste kills this! If the can didn't say brewed in Germany on it, I would have sworn this was a North American Macro product (Molson/Labatts/Coors/Miller/Anheuer-Busch)

The name of the brewery on the can is 'Berliner Pilsenert Brauerie GmbH' but the address matches that of the 'Brauerei Schultheiss'

The aroma is funk, grass, earthy hops, and yeast. Not much in the way of citrus or fruity notes in the aroma. The aroma is medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is putrid! The flavour is dominated by funky yeast and grains, and nothing good about either of them! This brewery keeps missing the mark for me....and I like the town of Beamsville!

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

330ml bottle
10.7% ABV (as marked on the bottle)
Bar Hop (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
December 6, 2013
$13.95
Note: This beer is described as an Imperial Stout. While the bar I was at has been in contact with the brewer and it's rep in Canada due to the possibility of quality issues, the brewer insists that what's in the bottle is the proper beer. The beer poured a solid reddish-broen colour with a thin tan coloured head. The aroma was yeast, dark fruits, and grains. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with above average carbonation. The flavour was tart fruit and yeast, with some graininess. Despite what the brewer says, I believe that the beer I had was a sour Belgian Strong Ale and not an Imperial Stout as the bottle/label/brewer suggests. I have graded it as what it was supposed to be.
