176 Great Divide Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout United States Imperial Stout 4.2

650ml bottle
9.5% ABV
Bottled On: November 21, 2019
LCBO Outlet # 010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill)
January 25, 2020
$10.95
The beer pours a solid translucent dark coca-cola colour with a thin creamy head which lasts a long time, but leaves relatively little lacing. The aroma is oak, coffee, roasted malt, and a hint of molasses. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. The flavour is toasted oak, coffee, and vanilla. Well hopped in the finish. A very good beer with a lot of wood characters without the alcohol being dominant.

The aroma is tropical fruit, musty hops, and biscuit malt. It’s definitely juicy. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is equally fruity with the grains and bitterness very well hidden. This could become a favourite.

July 5, 2007
LCBO Outlet #255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
500ml bottle
7.50% ABV
Bottled On: Unknown
$2.35
It poured a beautiful translucent reddish into the glass with very little head. The aroma was that of malts and fruits (apricotish). The mouthfeel is full-bodied, very smooth and crisp with a hint of carbonation. The taste is smooth with hints of yeast, malt and some sweetness and goes down very well. One of those beers that tastes better at the finish than it does at the beginning. Nothing overpowering. A very nice beer.

The carbonation was very evident in the glass. The aroma was spicy and fruity, not as yeasty as an Abbey Quadrupel. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The taste was not to my liking. The upfront taste was alright, but there was a lime-like bitterness on the back of the tongue. A very good beer, but not a great beer for me.

Re-Rated on May 28, 2008 with no changes.

The aroma was some sweet malt, some citrus, although not really all that orangy, and some hops, although I was expecting a more hoppy assault from a beer with 5 kinds of hops in it. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with medium carbonation, and leaves a dry feeling. The flavour had a little malt in it, and some bitter hop tones as well to round it off. A very enjoyable beer.
