283 | Tree Black Tree Dark Ale | Canada | Porter | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330ml
5.0% ABV
This is a beer for a good cause...reforestation. And for a charity beer, it's not bad. Had it at a friend's house after he brought back a case from out west. It's a golden red, clear, with a creamy head. The aroma is dark malt, some hops, and some caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, and medium carbonation. The flavour is reminiscent of an English Pale Ale more than a porter with a less roasted malt profile than I would have expected. |

287 | Flying Monkeys Paranormal Imperial Pumpkin Ale | Canada | Spiced Beer | 4.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 473ml can
10.0% ABV
Canned On: August 18, 2020
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
October 30, 2020
$4.95
The beer pours a translucent amber colour with heavy effervescence, and a huge creamy, yet rocky light tan head which lasted a while. The aroma was definitely pumpkin pie in a glass with some bready malts thrown in as well. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is just as the aroma would indicate….pumpkin pie in a glass. Sadly, they were unable to hide the 10% alcohol, but it’s warming the belly, and it’s cold outside. I really like the first few sips of this! |

288 | Sawdust City Reunion Tour Black IPA | Canada | American Black Ale | 4.0
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 473ml can
6.50% ABV
Canned On: September 2, 2021
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
November 29, 2021
$4.24
The beer pours a solid black colour with a foamy light brown head, there is some weak lacing. The aroma is roasted malt, weak coffee, and weak citrus. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is better balanced than the aroma with the citrusy hop notes cutting through the malt. A very nice beer, too bad it’s a seasonal, and probably a one-off because this would be a great year round Black IPA. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330ml bottle
10.0% ABV
The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
August 26, 2010
This is the Beer Idol beer. I'm not not into beer caps, so it doesn't really matter to me, but I didn't want my 'Beer idol beer' to be a Molson Canadian 67. The beer poured a solid dark brown colour with a bubbly tan coloured head. The aroma was dark fruits, roasted malt, coffee, and vanilla. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, with medium carbonation...but thin for an Imperial Stout. The flavour was coffee, roasted malt, some caramel, and some vanilla. It's obviously a popular choice amongst the wait staff because every single one of them has made a positive comment about the beer as they've passed by. |
