473ml can
7.2% ABV
Canned On: November 20, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
February 16, 2019
$3.60
The beer pours a dark gold colour with a creamy off-white head that lasts a few minutes. Very lively in the chalice. The aroma is tropical citrus fruits, light spices, grains, and yeast. More Belgian than IPA in my opinion. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with slightly above average carbonation. The flavour is more IPA than Belgian with the tropical fruit notes front and centre before giving way to grass and a hint of yeast. A very good beer.

The cap is an off-white colour. The aroma is yeast, citrus, grains, candy sugar, and spices. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The spiciness comes through in the flavour, along with a definite hoppiness, rounded out by the grains and some honey sweetness. Similar to last weekend’s St. Bernardus Extra 4, but better.

June 21, 2007 The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
330ml bottle
4.40% ABV
$5.90
This was poured by the waiter and was a nice crystal golden colour in the glass. The aroma was malt, and slightly yeasty. The mouthfeel was crisp as was the flavour. A little carbonation to tickle the tongue always helps. The flavour is grainy malt with a definite hop presence and small yeast presence. I would definitely try this beer again.

20oz draught
8.0% ABV
The 8.0% ABV was clearly written on the keg. I tried this beer on January 11, 2008 at "Smokeless Joe's" in Toronto. The beer poured a brownish black with a finger thick tannish creamy head. The aroma was a mixture of roasted malts and chocolate. The mouthfeel was medium bodied, creamy, and medium carbonation. 473ml can
5.5% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
April 3, 2008

Can says it was brewed by the Big Hole Brewing Company of La Crosse, Wisconsin (same brewer that is bringing in the Yankee Jim shit!). Surprise Surprise.....the website on the side of the can does not work although the picture matches what is here on the website.

The beer poured a beautiful translucent rusty red colour with a generous white fluffy head that quickly faded to islands on the top. The aroma is a combination of florally hops (subtle) and some caramel malt (strong). The mouthfeel is medium bodied with some good carbonation, not a lot (there is some slight effervescence in the glass). The flavour has some hints of malt, but has that wonderful grapefruit-tinged hoppy bitterness I like.

Maybe Big Hole Brewing knows how to brew a beer after all.

The beer poured a dark translucent gold colour with a fluffy white head that quickly died. The aroma was mainly grassy malt, but there was a hoppish hint. The mouthfeel was medium-bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was also a combination of grainy malt, with some bitter hoppiness thrown in for good measure. Definitely a better beer than both the Red Cuillin and the Black Cuillin.

473ml can
4.9% ABV
I tried this beer on May 9, 2008 after purchasing from the Queen's Quay LCBO outlet. The beer poured a beautiful translucent rusty red colour with some effervescence leading to a short-lived whitish head. The aroma was sweet malt, some fruit tones (I'm thinking plums), and a little hoppiness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, amply carbonated, and a little sour on the tongue. The flavour is no where near as fruity as the aroma. There is some sweet maltiness, some sourness in the middle, and slightly bitter finish. This beer suited my tastes quite well.
