2351 | Elysian Avatar Jasmine IPA | United States | IPA | 2.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 22oz bottle
6.3% ABV
The Beerbistro (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
June 18, 2010
The beer poured a cloudy golden orange colour with a bubbly snow white head (and as a Canadian - I've seen a LOT of snow). The aroma was jasmine, some perfumey hops, and cereal malt. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour is grainy malt, soap, and a weak hoppish hint followed by a weak bitter finish. A new brewer to add to my conquests, but this beer did not wow me! |

The aroma was floral hops, and weak light fruit. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with mild carbonation. The flavour was stale and sour, almost had the taste of a musky cider. 2355 | Boxer Lager | United States | Pale Lager | 1.3
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 2 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 2 473ml can
5.0% ABV
Main/Bronte LCBO Outlet (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
July 29, 2010
$1.75
This is a strange beer. Heavily advertised on Canadian TV with the tag line "We sell it in Ontario for the minimum legal price....but we would sell it for less if we could". Well, it's certainly worth a lot less than the minimum legal price in Ontario. The beer poured a clear gold with a HUGE white bubbly head that did not last, although there was excess effervescence in the glass.. The aroma was metallic, acidic, and sweet. The mouthfeel was watery and medium carbonated. The flavour was sweet acid and wet steel. Yum Yum! |

The aroma was dark chocolate, roasted malt. coffee, and molasses. The mouthfeel was full bodied, and creamy with medium carbonation. The flavour was bitter dark chocolate, some coffee, lots of roasted malt. This is a huge whallop of chocolate in a beer, maybe too much of a whallop because I'll take the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout over this any day. |

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 12oz bottle
9.1% ABV
I don't know if I didn't 'get' this or what. I was far from impressed (bottle was dated August 2010). It was good, but not great. My first true disappointment. I tried this beer on December 22, 2010 at "Bar Volo" in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer poured a hazy golden orange in a tulip glass with a half inch tan head and quite a bit of effervescence. The aroma was pine, citrus hops, and some sweet malt hints. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was weak malt, heavy grapefruity hops, but not very well balanced |

The aroma was typical for a cheap mass produced pale lager with hints of vomit, rusted metal, and grains. The mouthfeel was medium to thin bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was again typical of mass produced pale lagers in that there was very little that wasn't revolting (acidic, grainly, slightly sweet). |

2370 | Shock Top Belgian White | United States | Witbier | 2.0
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 473ml can
5.2% ABV
I tried this beer on May 6, 2011 after purchasing at the Queen's Quaq LCBO outlet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. The beer pours a hazy yellow with a huge white cap that quickly dissipates. The aroma is citrus and yeast, the spice is non-existent. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium-high carbonation. The flavour is sour, a little wheat, and a little spice, and sourness is NOT a citrus sour. |

The beer pours a very pale straw colour with a bubbly white head which disappeared in mere seconds. Considering it was canned less than a month ago, that surprises me. There was no lacing. The aroma is grains and herbal hops. Not much else. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grass and rice. I can actually taste the rice! I didn’t like this beer the first couple of times I tried it (the Labatt version in 1987 and the American version in 1992), and it won’t be a regular for me, but it really isn’t all that bad. I can see why billions and billions drink it. Score adjusted up to 1.9

Original Review
341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
Guelph, Ontario, Canada
January 21, 1987 (Canadian Version) / August 16, 1992 (American version)
I have had two versions of this beer, the Anheuser-Busch brewed version in the bars of Memphis, Tennessee, and the "brewed in Canada by Labatt under license...." I'll take the Canadian version hands down. Sadly, the Canadian version sucks too. For a beer that is as heavily advertised as it is, and sells as much as it does, the rating here says it all. This is America's finest pisswater (Labatt Blue is Canada's finest pisswater). It amazes me when I go out with friends, there is always one who orders Bud. Take a gamble people, try one of the beers on tap you've never heard of....they're great (with all due respect to Tony the Tiger). This is one of those beers I will go out of my way to avoid. Having it in your fridge is a great way to get taken off my Christmas card list! |

Aroma: 3 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 November 18, 1988
Gift
355ml bottle
5.0% ABV
$0.00
Version: Coors Banquet Beer brewed by Molson Breweries of Canada
An unimpressive entry from one of the big three. The beer is a very light yellow colour in the glass, with a very thin white head that quickly dissipates. The aroma dissipates as the beer is poured from the bottle into the glass. The taste reminds me of burnt sugar and this taste lingers for quite a while after the beer is gone. The mouthfeel is too watery as well. This is the only beer I can think of where the 'Lite' version is superior in taste. Not a beer I would recommend to my enemies let alone my friends |

2375 | Coors Light | United States | Light / Lite Lager | 1.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 3 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 3 September 8, 1988
Gift
355ml bottle
4.2% ABV
$0.00
Version: Coors Light brewed by Molson Breweries of Canada
This is my favourite American light beer, although that isn't saying much as I don't like light beer in general. The Silver bullet pours a pale yellow colour with little or no head. What aroma there is, is very weak in nature making it difficult to classify. The taste is beer-like witrh a weak aftertaste. The mouthfeel is watery with some hints of carbonation. Not a great tasting beer, but, better than Budweiser and Coors. |
