The aroma is all grains. No yeast. No hops. The mouthfeel is weak bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is weak grains with again, no hoppy notes, and no yeasty flavours. Diluted grainy water would be an apt description for this beer. |

2254 | Rogue Sriracha Hot Stout Beer | United States | Spiced Beer | 3.0
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 650ml bottle
5.7% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
September 3, 2015
The beer pours a solid black colour with a generous brown head which slowly recedes to a quarter inch or so. The aroma is cocoa, coffee, peppers, and yeast. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. Quite possibly the thinnest American craft stout I've tried. The flavour was chocolate milk and chili peppers. A little bit of heat added to a very weak stout. I would think that a brewery like Rogue would have had a stronger stout to add the chili sauce to. |

The aroma is yeast, caramel, spices, and roasted malts. The mouthfeel is medium full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is dark malt, some peppery spiciness, some caramel, and yeast. Ommegang knows beer (or at least Duvel Moortgaat does). |

2256 | Rogue Voodoo Doughnut Lemon Chiffon Crueller Ale | United States | Fruit Beer | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 750ml bottle
6.8% ABV
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
September 21, 2015
The beer pours a very hazy golden orange with a generous off-white head that takes a couple of minutes to settle into a quarter inch cap. The aroma is a lemon jelly doughnut.with some spices, yeast, and grains. Too much doughnut, not enough beer. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sickly sweet lemon custard, some metallic grainy notes, and a hint of yeast. I will not buy again! |

The beer pours a hazed golden orange with a thin creamy head which quickly recedes into a rocky film which lingers a while. The aroma is light citrus, grains (wheat and barley), yeast, and some herbal hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour has a hint of honey sweetness to go with the grains. The finish is mildly bitter with yeast and hoppy notes. A good beer. |

2259 | Spencer Trappist Imperial Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 3.8
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330ml bottle
8.70% ABV
Best Before: August 2, 2020
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
November 15, 2018
$4.06
The beer pours a very dark brown colour with black edges. The aroma is light brown, foamy, and providing good lacing. The aroma is dark fruits, coffee, chocolate, and roasted malt. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, dark fruit, and there is a chalky flavour as well. A pretty good take on an American style by a Trappist entity. |

2260 | Spencer Trappist Holiday Ale | United States | Belgian Strong Ale | 3.9
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 330ml bottle
9.00% ABV
Best Before: July 26, 2020
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
November 20, 2018
$4.06
The 2018 Birthday Beer. The beer pours a translucent dark reddish brown with a creamy light brown head which lasts. There are seasonal spices and dark fruit in the aroma along with yeast, grains, and molasses. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, with average carbonation. The flavour is more sweet than bitter with the sweet sugary flavours coming through with the spices. The finish is both spicy and bitter at the same time. A well made holiday Belgian style ale that will do in a pinch if you can’t get a Corsedonk or St. Bernardus Christmas ale. |

2261 | Blue Moon Belgian White / Belgian Moon | United States | Witbier | 2.8
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6 Had as Belgian Moon
473ml can
5.40% ABV
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
November 20, 2018
$2.85
I’ve had this for a while so I thought I better try it as witbiers (and faux witbiers) have short shelf lives. The beer pours a hazed medium gold colour with a thick bubbly head that is short lived as are all Macro beer caps. The aroma is stale grains, metallic notes, and cardboard. No wheat or spices. Is it age, or just bad beer? The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is definitely wheat with bubblegum in the mix. Still not a lot of spice or hop notes on the tongue. It certainly tastes better than it smells, and to be honest is quite a bit better than some craft witbiers here in Ontario. |

2262 | Kona Big Wave Golden Ale | United States | Blonde Ale | 2.7
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 14oz draught
4.40% ABV (as written on menu)
Prohibition Gastropub (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
November 30, 2018
$0.00
The beer poured a very clear pale gold colour with a half inch white cap that did stick around a few minutes. The aroma was grains, some light citrus notes, and a yeasty tone. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation, The flavour was the downfall of this beer. It was very grainy, and had an 'off' bitterness that I could not place. Not something I would try again. |

2263 | Rochester Mills Imperial Milkshake Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 3.4
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
7.5% ABV
Best Before: August 20, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 1, 2018
$3.49
The beer pours a solid dark brown colour with brown edges, and a thin creamy light brown cap. The aroma was roasted malt, milk chocolate and a hint of vanilla. The mouthfeel was full bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour was primarily roasted malt, with a hint of bitter chocolate. There is almost a maple type sweetness that isn’t maple, but I can’t really describe it. A solid effort. |

2264 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Crème de Menthe) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.3
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 6, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 3, 2018
$3.49
The beer, when held up to a strong white light, pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges. There is very little to no cap to speak of, aside from a small brown island of bubbles. The two predominant aromas are alcohol (it’s only 4.5%) and mint. Closer inspection reveals roasted malt, chocolate, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is very thin, almost soda pop thin which goes along with being a translucent stout and quickly disappearing head. The flavour is very weak, almost watered down. There are weak hints of roasted malt and chocolate with a hint of mint. This did not make for a good beer, but would have made for a great soft drink. |

2265 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Holiday Latte) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.5
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 After reassessing the previous can, this beer pours like a dark cream soda, a translucent dark cherry red cream soda with brown edges. The head starts off huge and within a couple of seconds is left as an island of bubbles on the centre of the beer. The aroma is quite weak in this case. Weak notes of roasted malt, dark chocolate, and coffee. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. Certainly ‘thicker’ than the Crème de menthe. The flavour was one dimensional coming across as nothing more than roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. |

2266 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Blueberry Pancake) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 7, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 5, 2018
$3.49
The beer pours a translucent dark mahogany colour with brown edges and a fluffy brown cap that disappears quickly. The aroma right out of the can was blueberry pancakes with roasted malt, dark choclate, and coffee. The mouthfeel is very thin for a milk stout, as with a previous can, very soda-like in mouthfeel. Carbonation is average. The flavour is sweet blueberries, bitter chocolate and roasted malt. Again, not a good beer, but would make a decent soft drink. |

2267 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Chocolate Cheesecake) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.2
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 4, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 8, 2018
$3.49
The beer, when held up to a strong white light, pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges. The head starts out very generous and is light brown, but quickly dissipates allowing the rest of the can to be poured. The first thing you smell is chocolate milk, the Sealtest variety, followed by weak roasted malts and coffee. As with the other stouts out of this box (only 1 more to go Thank God!) the mouthfeel is thin bodied, however unlike the others, this one is undercarbonated. The flavour is nothing like any chocolate cheesecake I would want to try. In fact, this tastes pretty close to a Yoo-Hoo soft drink. I think I may avoid Rochester Mills in the future. |

2268 | Rochester Mills MilkShake Stout (Toasted Marshmallow) | United States | Milk Stout | 2.6
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
4.5% ABV
Best Before: June 6, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 10 ,2018
$3.49
The beer pours a translucent dark brown colour with blackened edges and a creamy brown head which clings to the sides of the chalice. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, and weak hints of marshmallows. Kind of disappointing given how the aroma in the other cans was strong on the specialty flavours. The mouthfeel is weak bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, light notes of coffee and chocolate, and a little more marshmallow in the finish. I’m glad these are done! |

2269 | Spencer Trappist Monk's Reserve Ale | United States | Abbey Quadrupel | 3.9
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 330ml bottle
10.2% ABV
Bottled On: August 16, 2018
Best Before: August 16, 2021
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
December 16, 2018
$4.20
The beer pours a solid dark brown colour with a creamy light brown coloured head. The aroma is dark fruit, chocolate, caramel, and yeast. Definitely detecting some Quad notes here. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, creamy, with ample carbonation. The flavour starts off sweet with notes of caramel and molasses, with some roasted malt character, some spice, almost peppery in fact, followed by yeast and a chocolatey note. Lots of flavours in this once it warms. |

2270 | Founders Canadian Breakfast Stout / Founders CBS | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 355ml bottle
11.6% ABV
Bottled On: September 24, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
December 24, 2018
$8.50
The beer pours a solid black colour, similar to pouring motor oil. The head is a minimal brown film on the top. The aroma is quite complex with notes of bourbon, wood, maple, and coffee. The mouthfeel is full bodied with good carbonation. The flavour is bourbon soaked wood, some alcohol hints (quite warming as it goes down), dark coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. You can smell the maple, but you don’t really taste it. I am concerned that one of the ingredients in this beer is potassium sorbate! |

2271 | Boulevard Whiskey Barrel Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 355ml bottle
11.8% ABV
Best before: July 25, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 25, 2018
$4.85
The beer pours a solid black colour with absolutely no head. The aroma of whiskey shoots straight out of the bottle while being poured. There are notes of vanilla, coffee, and dark chocolate as well, but the whiskey overpowers all. The mouthfeel is full bodied, very creamy, warming, and the carbonation is average. The flavour is dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and a hint of whiskey. A well balanced stout with a complex aroma from one of America’s better brewer and excellent value for the money! |

2272 | Lickinghole Creek Heir Apparent | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.2
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 473ml can
11.7% ABV
Canned On: Spetember 4, 2018
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
December 26, 2018
$3.70
The beer pours a dark black with a thin creamy dark brown head. The aroma is roasted malt, milk chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and vanilla. No peppers on the nose. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, and amply carbonated. The peppers come through in the flavour along with the cinnamon and milk chocolate notes. The roasted malt is there, but you feel the peppers and alcohol as it goes down the hatch. |

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 473ml can
6.5% ABV
Canned On: November 19, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
February 12, 2019
$3.35
The beer pours a translucent light copper colour with a generous light tan coloured head that lasts a few minutes. The aroma is pine, grapefruity hops, biscuit grains and light spice notes. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is reminiscent of a solid American west coast IPA pre-2012 with notes of pine, caramel, and grapefruit finished with a bitter hop bite. Quite good when given the abundance of tropical fruit IPAs these days. |
