1276 | Second Wedge Brewing Derailleur | Canada | Abbey Dubbel | 3.6
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 340ml draught
7.0% ABV
C’est What? (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
March 29, 2019
$7.08
The beer poured a murky dark brown with a thin tan film for a head, although the film lasted and laced well. The aroma was nutty malt, dark fruit, some yeast, and roasted malt. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied, with average carbonation. The flavour was well balanced between the sweet notes of the sugar and dark fruit and the bitterness of the roasted malt and the hops. Quite good. |

1277 | New Limburg St. Arnoldus | Canada | Abbey Quadrupel | 4.4
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 9 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 500ml bottle
10.6% ABV
Best Before: January 1, 2010
C’est What? (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
March 29, 2019
$11.73
The beer pours a mahogany colour with clear edges and a thin brown head. Eventually, it appeared more like a brownish cream soda colour. The aroma was Belgian yeast, roasted malt, candy sugar, and dark fruit. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied, and highly carbonated. The flavour was plums and raisins, burnt sugar, and roasted malt notes. An excellent Canadian version of an Belgian Quadrupel |

1278 | Stone Ruination Double IPA 2.0 | United States | Imperial IPA | 4.2
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 8 650ml bottle
8.5% ABV
Bottled On:
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
March 23, 2019
$8.40
The beer pours a hazed medium gold colour with a half inch foamy white head which slowly recedes to a film on top. The aroma is citrus hops, grainy malt, light pine resin, and some caramel notes. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour has strong notes of grapefruit, caramel, grassy malt, and finished bitter. My kind of Imperial IPA after all these tropical wimpy wannabees from the last few years! |

1279 | Lickinghole Creek One Lion Imperial Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 3.4
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 750ml bottle
7.0% ABV
Bottled On: October 18, 2018
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
March 23, 2019
$11.20
First of all, at 7%, this is not an Imperial Stout, I don’t care what the brewer says. Maybe things are different in Virginia, but this beer falls short of the Imperial Stout on every beer web site. The beer pours black with a huge frothy brown head which doesn’t last very long. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, and weak hints of dark chocolate. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is roasted malt, coffee, and dark chocolate. The beer is very one dimensional. |

1280 | Granite 1812 Porter | Canada | Baltic Porter | 4.1
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 650ml bottle
6.4% ABV
Bottled On: January 30, 2019
Granite Brewery and Tied House (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
March 23, 2019
$8.50
The beer pours a solid black colour with a half inch brown cap which lasts several minutes. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and some licorice notes. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma with lots of coffee and roasted malt character. The brewery calls this a Baltic Porter but there really isn’t anything Baltic about it. As a Baltic Porter it fails, but as a Porter it is great! |

1281 | Cascade Manhattan NW | United States | Abbey Quadrupel | 3.7
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 750ml bottle
10.3% ABV
Bottled On: June 6, 2017
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
March 23, 2019
$21.95
2015 Edition, Bottled in 2017 after aging. The beer pours a turbid Indian red colour with a short lived (and by short lived I mean seconds) white cap. The ring around the edge does last forever though. The aroma is tart chrries, yeast, sour grains, and an unrecognizable funky smell. The mouthfeel is puckering, medium to full bodied, with ample amounts of carbonation. The flavour is both very tart, and very fruity. The cherries aren’t as pronounced in the flavour as they are in the aroma but still there. Some grains and yeast are also present but this is a very sour beer. As previously stated, this is nowhere near quad like in what we have to think of is a quad. But it is quite good. |

1282 | Granite Ringwood Ale | Canada | Blonde Ale | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8 16oz draught
5.0% ABV
Granite Brewery and Tied House (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
March 22, 2019
$8.50
The beer poured a clear medium gold with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma was yeast, biscuit grains, and light citrusy hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was very similar to the aroma with a nice malty backbone complemented by some light citrus and earthy hops, and a mellow finish. |

1283 | Granite Pirate Queen | Canada | Amber Ale | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 7 16oz draught
5.2% ABV
Granite Brewery and Tied House (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
March 22, 2019
$8.50
The beer poured a translucent dark copper colour with a thin white ring for a head, which was short lived. The aroma was caramel, bread, yeast, and light citrus. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, weak caramel notes, cereal malt, and light citrusy hop notes. The beer was decent, but the flavour was weaker than the aroma would have indicated. |

1284 | Granite Le Cocoa Milk Stout | Canada | Milk Stout | 3.8

The aroma was roasted malt, milk chocolate, light coffee, and vanilla. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied, slightly creamy, with average carbonation. The flavour is a nice balance between the sweet milk chocolate notes and the bitter roasted malt with a mildly bitter hop finish to boot. Very good beer. |

The aroma was roasted malt, coffee, dark chocolate, and hints of vanilla. The mouthfeel was full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt, dark chocolate, coffee, and notes of soy sauce in the finish. |

1286 | Granite Chocolate Chili Stout | Canada | Chocolate Stout | 3.7
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 16oz draught
4.6% ABV
Granite Brewery and Tied House (Toronto, Ontario, Canada)
March 22, 2019
$8.50
The beer poured a solid black colour with a light tan coloured creamy head which laced extremely well down the glass. The aroma was milk chocolate, chili peppers, roasted malt, and coffee. The mouthfeel was full bodied, creamy, and with average carbonation. The flavour was roasted malt and chocolate up front, with the chilis creeping up and catching the back of the tongue. The finish was decently bitter. |

1287 | Junction Craft Caribru Mango IPA | Canada | IPA | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 473ml can
5.60% ABV
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
March 18, 2019
$2.955
The beer pours a hazed golden orange colpour with a thin lace covering for a head. The aroma is orange, mango, and grass. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma with a piney, bitter aftertaste. It’s a nice IPA, not as tropical as the trend has been, but not as citrusy as the 2000s decade. |

1288 | Black Bellows Hops! Belgo-New England IPA | Canada | Belgian Ale | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
6.3% ABV
Canned On: January 10, 2019
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
March 17, 2019
$3.75
A blend of American and Belgian brewing styles for this year’s Saint Me day beer. It pours a hazed medium gold colour with a generous foamy off-white head which lasts throughout. The aroma is very yeasty, definitely a Belgian influence here, followed by notes of tropical citrus juices, and a hint of biscuit malts. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. First thing I taste is pine resing, which gives way to some grain notes, followed by some tropical fruit juice flavours, almost similar to ‘Five Alive’. Still not a fan of these juice bombs…..I want beer, not breakfast juice! |

1289 | Ommegang Game of Thrones Royal Reserve 003: Mother Of Dragons | United States | Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 6 750ml bottle
6.60% ABV
Bottled On: October 31, 2018
Best Before: October 31, 2020
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
March 9, 2019
$13.80
The beer pours a slightly translucent coca-cola colour when held to a strong white light, with a huge frothy light tan coloured head which lasts a while. The aroma is quite complex as both the tart cherries, and burnt wood are prominent. There are hints of roasted malt, chocolate, and coffee as well, but it is the tart cherries and wood that dominate. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, slightly creamy, and with above average carbonation. The flavour is both chocolatey and tart at the same time. There are also notes of roast and coffee in the mix. Looks good, smells good, feels good, but does not taste good. Nor am I a fan of the dark frosted bottle as I can’t see how much yeast was left on the bottom. |

1291 | Sawdust City Griffin Maple Butter Tart Ale | Canada | Amber Ale | 3.1
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6 473ml can
5.0% ABV
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
March 2, 2019
$3.25
The beer pours a translucent amber colour with a thin white ring for a head. The aroma is sweet caramel, cereal malt, weak maple notes, some yeast, and come herbal hops. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is not as sweet as the aroma would suggest. Notes of caramel and maple, and hints of hops in the bitter finish. A little one dimensional but with calling it a ‘butter tart ale’, I think that is what they were going for. |

The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grass, tropical fruit, and herbal hops. In fact, I enjoy the flavour. It wouldn’t be a “go to” beer, but I would never turn one down. |

Very lively in the chalice. The aroma is tropical citrus fruits, light spices, grains, and yeast. More Belgian than IPA in my opinion. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with slightly above average carbonation. The flavour is more IPA than Belgian with the tropical fruit notes front and centre before giving way to grass and a hint of yeast. A very good beer. |
