1226 De Leite Cuvée Mam'Zelle Belgium Belgian Strong Ale 3.8

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

330ml bottle
7.5% ABV
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
June 24, 2019
$4.95
The beer pours a very hazed orange gold colour with a huge frothy white cap which sticks around for a long time. The aroma is tart fruit, vinegar, burnt wood, and yeast. There is an almost tripel-like feel to the aroma. The mouthfeel is dry, medium bodied, and highly carbonated. The flavour is grains, yeast, tart fruit notes, and the oak comes through in the flavour on the back of the tongue. An enjoyable beer, but certainly not a sessionable beer.

1227 Silly Sir Easy Tiger Lemongrass Ale Canada American Wheat 3.2

473ml can
5.10% ABV
Canned On: March 28, 2019
LCBO # 411 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Wellesley)
June 12, 2019
$3.30
The beer pours a translucent medium gold colour with a small white cap that quickly recedes to a ring of film. The aroma is grainy malt, some fruity notes, light spice, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is spicy, fruity, and milky all at once. A lot of similarities with rye beer in the spicy notes.

1228 Skeleton Park Amber 6.6 Canada Amber Ale 3.5

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

473ml can
6.6% ABV
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
June 10, 2019
$3.15
The beer pours a translucent light rust colour with a huge generous light tan coloured head which doesn’t last very long, nor does it lace very well. The aroma is caramel, some citrus peel, earthy hops, and a light spicy note. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, sticky, with average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between the caramel malt sweetness, and citrus peel bitterness in the finish. I quite like the beer.

1229 Magnotta Brewery Double Drooling Dog Black IPA Canada American Black Ale 3.0

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5

473ml can
6.4% ABV
Canned On: May 16, 2019
LCBO #255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Bronte / Main)
June 9, 2019
$3.25
The beer pours a translucent light coca-cola colour with a generous light tan coloured head which lasts several minutes. The aroma is roasted malt, coffee, weak grapefruit, and grassy notes. The mouthfeel is full bodied, with average carbonation. The flavour is coffee, chocolate milk, and roasted malt. This is a decent porter or stout, but aside from a faint grapefruit aroma, and maybe some citrus peel flavour (both which can be found in overhopped stouts and porters) there is nothing to suggest this is a black IPA. NOTHING!

The aroma is weak citrus, light caramel, some perfumey hops, and some grass. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is light caramel and citrus. Sweet up front, bitter in the end. A nice little IPA that takes me back to the first decade of the 21st century.

Effervescence is average. The aroma is grains, light hops, light burnt wood, and yeast. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is very weak. Thre are some sweet malt notes up front, but the beer seems very watery flavour wise. There are weak hints that this has had contact with wooden barrel staves, but very weak at best.

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

473ml can
4.8% ABV
Canned On: April 29, 2018
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
May 25, 2019
$3.45
The beer was canned over a year ago….so who knows what to expect. It pours a very hazed orange gold with a thin creamy head which slowly recedes to a long lasting ring. The aroma is tart tropical citrus, grains, and funk. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with below average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between the malted grains and the tart tropical fruit with the tartness lingering on the tongue for a while. Not bad for a year old gose, but I do wonder how it would have been if it was fresher.

Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 4 | Mouthfeel: 4 | Flavor: 2 | Overall: 3

341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
May 23, 2019
Gift
This was a gift from a colleague and former friend. The beer pours a translucent pale straw colour with a bubbly white head. Effervescence is minimal, although the head lasts a few minutes. The aroma is stale cardboard, grass, and musty hops. Better than your average macro, but not in the same class as most craft pale lagers. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour is sweet corn malt, with very little in the way of a bitter hop finish. I will not be trying this beer again......ever!

The mouthfeel was medium bodied with slightly above average carbonation. The flavour is very grainly with hints of wheat, yeast, and a bitter hop finish. Not as much blueberry flavour as there is aroma. I hope the next PEI beer is much better than this one.

The colour puts it somewhere between a maibock and a dunkler bock. The aroma is light hints of dark fruit, caramel, roasted malt, earthy hops, and grass. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is unfortunately dominated by notes of alcohol. This overpowers the mild notes of dark fruit, grass, and yeast. Looks good, smells good, tastes not so good.
