1076 | Four Fathers Brewing The Starter Session | Canada | IPA | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 473ml can
4.80% ABV
Canned On: July 9, 2018
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
February 2, 2019
$2.50
The beer pours a hazed caramel colour with a generous off-white foamy head which lasts a couple of minutes. There is significant lacing for a beer that is 7 months from canning. The aroma is cereal grains, citrusy hops, some pine notes as well. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sticky caramel, pine, and citrus with a bitter hop finish. Another decent from one of the breweries closest to me. |

1077 | New Standard Original Lager | Canada | Light / Lite Lager | 2.8
Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6 473ml can
3.20% ABV
Canned On:
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
February 2, 2019
$2.85
The beer pours a translucent pale straw gold colour with plenty of effervescence. There is a thin ring surrounding a sporadic white film on tap standing in for the beer’s head. The aroma is grains, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grainy malt, some briny tartness, and some peppery spiciness before giving way to a light bitter hop finish. Interesting flavour. Better than most light lagers in my opinion. |

1078 | Collective Arts Imperial Porter Barrel-Aged | Canada | Imperial Porter | 3.2
Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 8 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 500ml bottle
11.50% ABV
Bottled On: October 23, 2018
> LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
January 29, 2019
$14.95
The beer pours a solid black colour with a creamy brown head, about a half inch thick, that lasts a while. The aroma is bourbon, and lots of it, burnt wood, some roasted malt, vanilla, and coffee. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma….lots of burnt wood and bourbon up front, followed by notes of roasted malt, coffee. Not a fan of barrel aged beers, and in this case, the barrel takes over the beer.

In the end, this ended up being a drainpour. It looked great, the mouthfeel was great, but the overpowering bourbon aroma and flavour was just too much. I like bourbon, and I like beer, but they don't go together in my opinion. |

The aroma is tart cherries, vinegar, and wet grains. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is well balanced between tart cherry and sweet cherry flavours, with some grains, burnt wood, vinegar, and yeast thrown into the mix. A very fine beer. |

1081 | Brunswick Bierworks / Omnipollo Prodromus | Canada | Imperial Stout | 4.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 473ml can
10.5% ABV
Canned On: November 5, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
January 24, 2019
$5.95
The beer pours a solid black colour with a half inch creamy dark brown cap. As soon as the can is opened, you can smell graham crackers, but once in the glass, the aroma is primarily roasted malt, dark chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. The mouthfeel is full bodied, very creamy, and well carbonated. The flavour is chocolate, molasses, and vanilla. There is a definite sweetness up front that eventually gives way to a bitter roasty finish. An excellent beer. |

1082 | Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer Rood/Red | Belgium | Belgian Strong Ale | 4.6
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 9 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 750ml bottle
10.0% ABV
Best Before: December 31, 2021
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
January 25, 2019
$9.95
The beer pours a highly effervescent medium gold colour with a huge bubbly white head which lasts a long while (20+ minutes). The aroma is Belgian yeast, grains, candy sugar, and lemony citrus notes. The mouthfeel is full bodied with average carbonation, despite the constant stream of bubbles in the Spencer Trappist glass. The flavours are very similar to the aroma. A nice Belgian Strong Ale with notes of grains, some honey, some , a little spiciness, and it warms the belly nicely, and since it is -10 outside, that’s not a bad thing. |

1083 | Collective Arts Jam Up The Mash | Canada | Wild Ale | 3.4
Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 473ml can
5.20% ABV
Canned On: October 3, 2018
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
January 18, 2019
$3.55
The beer pours a cloudy light gold colour with a huge white generous head which slowly disappears to a fine film. The first aromas to hit me are those of grapefruit and oranges, then some cereal malt and yeast. The mouthfeel is thin bodied with below average carbonation. The first thing I taste is tart citrus, and an almost oniony flavour. Not a lot of grains in the flavour, just tart citrus. |

The aroma is bready malts, some nuts, some tropical fruits, and toast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grainy malt, some tropical fruit notes, and a mild bitter hop finish. There is also a weak caramel note that just lingers on the tongue. Another ‘not a bad’ beer. From the LCBO. |

The aroma was cereal malt and weak herbal hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was very grainy with a weak bitter hop finish. The flavour was outstanding for a non-alcoholic beer. In fact, it had the flavour of a decent European style pilsner. |

1088 | Partake Pale Ale | Canada | Reduced Alcohol | 1.9
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 2 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 3 355ml can
0.3% ABV
Canned On: September 20, 2018
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
January 16, 2019
$2.00
The beer pours a translucent medium gold colour with a huge white head which quickly disappears into a fine film covering the surface. The aroma has citrusy hop notes, grassy notes, and some salty notes. The mouthfeel is very thin with below average carbonation. The flavour is weak grains with hints of wet cardboard and a weak bitter finish. There is also a doughy note that comes through in both the aroma and flavour in a strong way. There are beers on this site that taste worse than this, so I will give it credit from that standpoint, but this is not a good beer unless rated to style |

The aroma is citrusy hops, cereal grains, and a hint of spice. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is cereal, grass, and a citrus hop finish. Not quite tropical fruit citrus, and not quite grapefruit citrus. Somewhere in between. A very good blonde ale. |

1090 | Brimstone Punk Rock Pilsner | Canada | Bohemian / Czech Pilsener | 3.3
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7 473ml can
4.60% ABV
Canned On: October 29, 2018
LCBO #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Summerhill)
January 12, 2018
$3.40
The beer pours a hazy pale straw colour with a generous foaming white bubbly head which does not last very long. The aroma is grains, cereals, light citrus, herbal hops, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour has light citrus tones, grass, a little spiciness, and a hint of yeast. Very reminiscent of some session IPAs that have come out of Ontario the last few years rather than a pilsner |

1091 | Muskoka Shinnicked Stout | Canada | Stout | 3.0
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 473ml can
5.2% ABV
Best Before: June 5, 2019
LCBO #457 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada – Yonge / Eglinton)
January 11, 2019
$3.45
The beer pours a coca-cola colour with absolutely no head. Kind of disappointing from the head perspective. The aroma is all roasted malt and coffee with a minor hint of vanilla. Not much in the way of multiple dimensions here. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with below average carbonation. I am now pretty sure that this beer is flat or old. Either way, quite disappointed. The flavour is similar to the aroma with a lot of roasted malts and bitter coffee notes hiding a weak vanilla and chocolate presence. I may try again down the road but this was a disappointment. |

The aroma was strong on tropical fruits with hints of papaya and pineapple. There is also some grapefruit and grass notes in the mix. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is light tropical fruit notes, weak grains, some citrus rind, and a little funky yeast note. Quite good. |

The aroma is roasted malt, milk chocolate, cinnamon, coffee, and vanilla. No peppers on the nose. The mouthfeel is full bodied, creamy, and amply carbonated. The peppers come through in the flavour along with the cinnamon and milk chocolate notes. The roasted malt is there, but you feel the peppers and alcohol as it goes down the hatch. |

1094 | Boulevard Whiskey Barrel Stout | United States | Imperial Stout | 4.7
Aroma: 9 | Appearance: 10 | Mouthfeel: 10 | Flavor: 9 | Overall: 9 355ml bottle
11.8% ABV
Best before: July 25, 2019
LCBO # 255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
December 25, 2018
$4.85
The beer pours a solid black colour with absolutely no head. The aroma of whiskey shoots straight out of the bottle while being poured. There are notes of vanilla, coffee, and dark chocolate as well, but the whiskey overpowers all. The mouthfeel is full bodied, very creamy, warming, and the carbonation is average. The flavour is dark chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and a hint of whiskey. A well balanced stout with a complex aroma from one of America’s better brewer and excellent value for the money! |

The head is a minimal brown film on the top. The aroma is quite complex with notes of bourbon, wood, maple, and coffee. The mouthfeel is full bodied with good carbonation. The flavour is bourbon soaked wood, some alcohol hints (quite warming as it goes down), dark coffee, vanilla, and chocolate. You can smell the maple, but you don’t really taste it. I am concerned that one of the ingredients in this beer is potassium sorbate! |

The aroma was grainy malt, some light fruitiness, and floral hops. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with slightly above average carbonation. Very spritzy. The flavour was stale grains and wet cardboard. Very little bitterness |

The aroma is grainy malt, wet grass, and herbal hops. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bitter leather, with notes of grass. The taste kills this! If the can didn't say brewed in Germany on it, I would have sworn this was a North American Macro product (Molson/Labatts/Coors/Miller/Anheuer-Busch)

The name of the brewery on the can is 'Berliner Pilsenert Brauerie GmbH' but the address matches that of the 'Brauerei Schultheiss' |

The aroma was citrusy hops, mild tropical fruit notes, cereal grains, and pine needles. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour was very citrusy, reminiscent of the old style DIPAs before the tropical hop craze kicked in. Also had flavours of weak yeast and grass.
