The aroma is wet metal, weak caramel, and grass. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is burnt caramel, weak acidic tones, and grains. The worst of the Alexander Keith Hop series ales by far! |

1002 | Alexander Keith's Hop Series: Cascade | Canada | American Pale Ale | 2.8
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 5 473ml can
5.5%
LCBO Outlet #255 (Milton, Ontario, Canada – Main / Bronte)
April 4, 2013
$2.55
The beer pours a golden-red colour with a very thin tan coloured ring for a cap. There is definitely the citrusy notes of the cascade hops, as well as some weak caramel notes. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour doesn’t live up to the aroma. Some weak hoppy grapefruit notes mixed in with the infamous dishsoap notes. Better than their flagship IPA, but still ’crafty’ as opposed to ’craft’ |

The aroma was definitely pumpkin pie in a glass with some bready malts thrown in as well. The mouthfeel was medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is just as the aroma would indicate….pumpkin pie in a glass. Sadly, they were unable to hide the 10% alcohol, but it’s warming the belly, and it’s cold outside. I really like the first few sips of this! |

The aroma is cereal grains, yeast, and a hint of light fruit. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is sweet cereal grains that leave me with the impression that this is a ‘stock’ ale recipe. It’s not bad. |

The aroma is light biscuit grains, light hops, and lots of yeast. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bready malts, and a mild hoppy finish. This is the cloudiest pilsner I have ever seen. I’ve seen hazy IPAs with less haze. Maybe I need a fresher can….. |

1019 | Einbecker Ur-Bock Hell | Germany | Bock | 2.5
Aroma: 4 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 3 | Overall: 4 330ml bottle
6.5% ABV
Best Before: March 26, 2021
LCBO Outlet #010 (Toronto, Ontario, Canada - Summerhill)
October 17, 2020
The beer pours a translucent medium gold colour with a generous white head which sticks around a couple of minutes before leaving some nice lacing in the glass. The aroma is light hints of alcohol, cereal grains, and noble hops. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied, creamy, and has average carbonation. The flavour is alcohol, sweet grains, and an oily bitterness. If somebody handed me this in a glass and didn’t tell me what it was, I would think it is more of a malt liquor, or high ABV North American style lager. |

I would have expected a longer lasting frothier head from a Duvel. The aroma is yeast, candy sugar, tropical fruits, and grains. The mouthfeel is light to medium bodied, and very well carbonated. The flavour is grains, yeast, and noticeable alcohol. There is a definite alcohol burn as well. |

1023 | Brickworks Ciderhouse Batch 1904 | Canada | Cider | 3.5
Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7 473ml can
5.0%
LCBO Outlet #649 (Milton, Ontario, Canada - Sobey's Plaza)
September 23, 2020
$3.40
The cider pours a very pale translucent gold colour. There is no head, but effervescence is lively. The aroma is light apple and Golden Horseshoe white wine (think Spumante Bambino). The mouthfeel is very light and heavily carbonated, again, more akin to a white wine than a cider. The flavour is light apple with hints of alcohol. It’s actually quite nice. I was a bit worried after trying their peach cider (which was more alcoholic soda pop than cider), but this is a good cider in my opinion. |

The aroma is light grapefruit, grains, pine, and weak caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, slightly creamy, and average carbonation. The flavour is citrus forward, grassy, with a bitter hop finish. A decade ago this was often listed in Top 10 lists for Canada’s best IPAs, and I loved it, but I can’t believe what I had today is the same IPA served in 2010. |
