The beer poured a dark brown, almost black colour with a thin white head. The aroma was weak, but consisted of roasted malt and licorice. The mouthfeel was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was bitter coffee, smoked wood, licorice, and roasted malt...with a subtle dryness to it. |

The beer poured a slightly translucent dark ruby red with a very thin white head. The aroma was all raspberries with some faint hints of malt. The mouthfeel was weak and slightly watery with very little carbonation. The flavour was very much like a weak raspberry tea with a slight sourness. Nowhere near the same calibre of beer as the raspberry wheat. |

The finish is both spicy and bitter at the same time. A well made holiday Belgian style ale that will do in a pinch if you can’t get a Corsedonk or St. Bernardus Christmas ale. |

The flavour starts off sweet with notes of caramel and molasses, with some roasted malt character, some spice, almost peppery in fact, followed by yeast and a chocolatey note. Lots of flavours in this once it warms. |

Well, try it I did. It poured a dark brown into the glass with a small head that lasted throughout the entire beer. The aroma was thick with bread and hops, and some fruit. It was silky smooth on the tongue with a full-bodied feel. The taste.........unlike any beer I've tasted before. There was bread, and malt...and hops. The alcohol was not noticeable on the tongue.....but I felt it going down....and this is one damn fine beer! |
