The aroma is citrus, weak caramel, some grass, and yeast. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is slightly toasted malt, some sweet caramel hints, and weak pine notes. Not bad, but not something to reach for every time you want a beer.

June 1, 1990
Woolwich Arms, The (Guelph, Ontario, Canada – 176 Woolwich Street)
500ml bottle
5.00%
$4.70
After going almost 20 years without sampling this, I recently tried it on tap at a local Toronto eatery and found it to be an alright brew. The colour was a translucent brownish-red colour, with an off-white head that didn't stay long. The aroma was slightly malty and sweet but weak. The flavour was slightly malty at the start but became better as I got closer to the bottom. Like other ales I have tried it was thick on the tongue with little carbonation. This is one of those brews that when provided a list on tap...if I've previously tried them all.....ocassionally I'll pick this one.

The aroma is tropical fruit, stale grass, herbal hops and…..cheese? Not sure what to make of the aroma but that cheese smell takes away from everything. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grass, tropical fruit, and herbal hops. In fact, I enjoy the flavour. It wouldn’t be a “go to” beer, but I would never turn one down.

The aroma was dark chocolate, roasted malt. coffee, and molasses. The mouthfeel was full bodied, and creamy with medium carbonation. The flavour was bitter dark chocolate, some coffee, lots of roasted malt. This is a huge whallop of chocolate in a beer, maybe too much of a whallop because I'll take the Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout over this any day.

None whatsoever, barely a ring. Aroma is roast coffee, dark chocolate, and hints of vanilla. Mouthfeel is full bodied with good carbonation. Flavour is roasted malt and dark chocolate. Some smoke comes through, and unfortunately so does the alcohol. Looks great, great body, but the rest of it just doesn't do it for me at this price point.
