Aroma: 5 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 5 341ml bottle
5.0% ABV
Bottling Date: Unknown
The Bookshelf Café (Guelph, Ontario, Canada)
June 8, 1991
$1.85
The first time I tried this beer, it was the only beer in the house. It wasn't that great. The second time I tried this beer, it was because I was a summer student with the brewery. It still wasn't that great. The company's flagship brand and liked by many of my friends, just not my glass of brew. I have to admit, the clear bottle is a very nice touch. The beer pours a light yellow colour (so the bottle isn't hiding anything) with a minimal head. The aroma is thick and hoppy, maybe too hoppy. This beer has way too much carbonation and is harsh on the cheeks. The taste is a mishmash of varying degrees..slightly malty, slightly grassy, slightly awful. |

The aroma is grassy malt, noble hops, yeast, and a hint of caramel. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is grassy, with light notes of caramel giving way to a bitter hoppy finish. This is a very good local Oktoberfest beer, and the finest Sleeman beer I’ve had. |

It pours an orangy red colour with a slight head. The aroma is nice and malty with a hint of honey. It works well on the cheeks with mild carbonation (unlike Sleeman Cream Ale which is way too fizzy). The taste is crisp and clear with hints of fruit and honey. Goes down well and tastes great with barbecued ribs. |

The aroma is caramel, grass, and weak floral hops. Not a citrusy note to be noted. The mouthfeel is weak to medium bodied with below average carbonation. Flavour is mild notes of caramel and grass with a weak bitter finish. As the beer is only 14 days from canning, I can’t chalk up the lack of aroma and body to age, only to it being a not so great beer. |
