The predominant aroma is burnt wood and alcohol. I really can’t detect anything else. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is similar to the aroma. I am getting more of a carbonated whiskey flavour than a barrel aged beer flavour. There’s a lot of discussion as to whether this was a DIPA or not. I’ll add ‘is this even beer’ to the discussion. A big disappointment for me from I&#38;G.

The aroma was grainy malt, wood, and a hint of sourness. The mouthful was medium bodied with medium carbonation. The flavour was oak-tinged, grassy with a bitter finish. A good beer.

The aroma is chocolate, roasted malt, coffee, and dish soap. I don’t detect any citrus, coconut, or rhubarb. So, not a typical Black IPA. Mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is more akin to a thin porter&#47;stout as I’m not getting a whole ot of the rhubarb or coconut in this. This isn’t a black IPA to my mind, and not even a fruited stout&#47;porter. Not something I would want to drink regularly.

The flavour is very IPA like, hop forward with notes of tropical fruit balanced by a malty grassy sweetness and finishing with a strong hoppy bitterness. Not a lot of ‘spice’ in the beer for me&#47;

The finish is mildly bitter, certainly not overly strong.

The flavour is a slight lactose sweetness associated with Canadian 'stock' ales, with hints of hops in the mix. I would definitely try this again as a cheap flavourful go-to lager.

Effervescence is apparent. The aroma is slightly sweet, there is a hint of oak, nutty malt, but no signs of whiskey. The mouthfeel is medium bodied, with medium carbonation. The flavour unfortunately has a sour finish to it and has a hint of whiskey. The malt and oak are definitely evident as well. The beer looks great, but the taste doesn't match up in my opinion.

The aroma was burnt wood, molasses, whiskey, and roasted malt. The mouthfeel was full bodied with above average carbonation. The flavour lacks the punch of the aroma with notes of roasted malt, some bitter soy sauce notes, dark chocolate, and minor hints of burnt wood and whiskey. While I’m not a fan of in your face barrel aged beers, I do expect there to be some barrel character and this has it, but not enough of it.

The beer poured a coppery red colour into the glass with a 1 finger creamy white head that dissipated quickly to leave a little trace on top. The smell was rather foul to say the least....almost sour. The mouthfeel is crisp and slightly thick with an idea level of carbonation. The taste is good with some hints of malt and fruit (although I can't place the sweetness off-hand).

Lacing is generous down the glass. The aroma is roasted malt, dark chocolate, nuts, vanilla, and weak soy sauce hits. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with average carbonation. The flavour is bourbon and wood with some hints of chocolate and cold pressed coffee in the background. The discernable imperial stout notes are warming and tasty, but the bourbon and wood are overpowering.

Flavour is similar to the aroma…nutty caramel up front, and a bitter hop finish. More of an amber ale than an Irish red.

The aroma is very grainy and yeasty with some hints of herbal hops. Nothing in the aroma screams “Belgian”. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation. So, while the aroma doesn’t say Belgian, the flavour is reminiscent of a light Belgian tripel. A sweet malt start, followed by light Belgian spiciness, and the definite flavour of a Belgian yeast. It’s a pretty decent beer, but it is still missing that ‘something’
