1 Yuengling Golden Pilsner United States Bohemian / Czech Pilsener 3.6

Aroma: 8 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 7

A nice-enough German-Style Pilsener, made in the US. I believe it's free of adjuncts...so says a former Yuengling Sales Rep. Very balanced flavor, hops are easily discerned without being overwhelming. This may be Yuengling's Best brew.

2 Adirondack Bear Naked Ale United States Altbier 3.2

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 7 | Overall: 6

This Amber Ale aka Red Beer aka Altbier (depending on the reviewer) is brewed in NYS. "Good, evenly balanced flavor" was my first impression before I read any reviews. It's a fairly deep amber with beige foam. Nothing spectacular. For the high grocery store price I'd hope for better. Recent reviews from another site. 3 Third Shift Amber Lager United States Vienna / Amber Lager 3.6

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 8

New Formula? I see differences in previous reviews from the product I've recently discovered. Third Shift Amber Lager is now a copper-colored brew with light beige foam. No appreciable aroma. I like American Style Lager, and I think this is a good one! Probably no match for Erlanger, Schlitz's now defunct flagship beer...but nice enough. I realized when I bought it that it was from Coors. Anyway it's more flavorful than the average macro and has a pleasantly subtle lingering bitterness. For $11.97 per twelve pack @ Walmart, I will probably buy this again from time to time.

4 Miller High Life United States Pale Lager 3.0

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

I just brought home a 30 rack of MHL. First time I've done so for a while...Genesee Cream Ale and Extra Gold Lager are cheaper than MHL at the local Wally World. :D Remember...MHL was rated Good-but-bland by Consumer Reports years ago. That is to say, it was a benchmark product for the American Mass Market Macroswill category. And it's less expensive than the allmighty Bud. What's not to like?

5 Genesee Cream Ale United States Cream Ale 2.9

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 5 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 5 | Overall: 6

Genesee Cream Ale is cheap and agreeably flavorful macroswill. This beer, (and Extra Gold Lager), are my basic everyday choices. Much better than regular Genesee Beer...and I'm afraid to even TRY Genesee Light! Walmart doesn't have a large stock of quality micros but there are a few. As we all know, price and reputation do not guarantee great quality or enjoyment on the part of the individual purchaser. But enough philosophical rambling; and besides, I believe I've met or exceeded the mandatory 150 character limit! :D

6 Alhambra Especial Spain Pale Lager 3.7

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 8 | Mouthfeel: 7 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

CARAMEL...with a touch of hops? I think that's an apt description of this Oct. 2013 sixer I drank. If you like caramel you'd like this one. If not, don't bother! Maybe I'd buy it again, but I would find it cloying for anything more than once-in-a-great-while consumption.

7 Extra Gold Lager United States Pale Lager 3.1

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 6 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 6 | Overall: 6

This beer apparently IS Coors Extra Gold, with changes having been made along the way. Price = only $0.40 per 12oz. @ local Walmart. 30 rack cans, not bottles. Label doesn't mention Coors except in fine print. And it is a rather sweet, bland brew. Not bitter. I'd prefer more bitterness, but for the price Extra Gold Lager is quite alright. When can I try a bottle of Coors Extra Gold in order to compare? :)

8 Sierra Nevada Ruthless Rye United States IPA 3.5

Aroma: 7 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 6 | Flavor: 8 | Overall: 7

I concur with the reviews mentioning doughy/bready beer mixed with an IPA...an apt description! I had shied away from IPA's after spending many months in an IPA/Stout phase which was accompanied by a predilection for habanero pepper relish. :O But I found this beer to be enjoyable, after all. I guess the rye makes the difference. :)
