I had no chance to sample this beer properly, because I took it in the airport of Bombay at 3am roughly. My long trip to India was over, I felt completely exhausted and since at such inappropriate for beer tasting time this one didn’t make me sick, I suppose it’s not the worst one. The only things I noticed were a mild bitterness and a generous carbonate. Nothing special, but better then nothing when thirsty.

It’s a blackish-red beer crowned by a massive brownish head. The aroma is mostly malt and caramel, the taste is sweet, candy and maltose. I wish it had had more bitter aftertaste, but it can be easily reached by mixing, for instance, with Pilsner Urquell (old Czech recipe).

This beer is one of my favorites, it is still nice in spite of being UHT and one-year shelf life when bottled. I agree with Ttotalalky, the price of this beer and all local beers is really low in Czech Rep, you can take it for a song. I remember buying Staropramen for 15c in Prague in 1997. Unfortunately it’s minimum 10 times more expensive in Moscow. As for Gambrinus Premium (I suppose I’m reviewing this one), it has a clean hops aroma, crisp malt taste, marvelous golden colour and generous head. Why not take another pint?

It’s a great Czech beer golden in colour, hops and malt in flavour, fruity in finish, though a bit too carbonated. Unfortunately it’s shelf life in bottles has been recently extended to one year by pasteurization technology using and the lack of taste was noticed. When tapped though it’s still wonderful.

The strongest lager in the world, utterly extreme, has an irreproachable appearance – reddish dark amber, just the head lets it down disappearing too quickly, maybe because I overchilled the beer a bit. The aroma is vinous-sweet, the taste is pure maltose, luscious and alcohol. The finish is bitter first, and strong alcohol then. It must be great with fruit dessert, but 330ml is too much, a couple of liqueur-glasses would be enough. :-)
