The day after...

General Beer Discussion by BRADPEAR

Styles, brands, breweries, country of orgin, are all subjective. The way I rate all bier and ale is by what the hell does it do to me after a nite of serious abuse! The amount of alcohol per bottle has very little to do with hangovers, it is the quality of alcohol in the bottle that makes the difference. The question is: The day after who do you love, and what to avoid?

Drink any cask beer or bottle conditioned beers to avoid hangovers. Don't filter out the yeast! Its good for you.

In Reply To #6 I just saw this ad for an anti-hangover pill. What a scam! I guess it only works if you have 3 drinks. Who has 3 drinks and gets a hangover the next morning?

In Reply To #7 Chaser? Haha, we stole a pack from the pharmacy, but never remembered to test it. According to my friend's girlfriend, it works, but I call BS. RU-21 is supposed to work though, although I don't quite understand how the hell it works. Apparently, it takes out toxins that cause hangovers. To me, that means it takes out alcohol and you wouldn't get drunk. And isn't a hangover from dehydration? It probably says on the package, "Take with 8 glasses of water." Haha Label me skeptical, I'll believe it when I try it and it works, which it won't.

In Reply To #8 lol Well if you do try it let me know what the results are. I say BS too. How many drinks can your friends girlfriend drink? She probably drinks 2 or 3 and then wakes up fine and thinks this chaser shit is a miracle pill. I'll pass

In Reply To #9 Nah, she usually plays beer pong with us, and is violently sick the next morning, according to my friend. I don't even know where the chaser pills are anymore, I think my room mate has them or something. Maybe it's an experiment we'll try out when I'm back at school.

In Reply To #10 Sounds cool. Maybe you're roommate has been using them all along! I heard that it only works on 3 drinks or so and who gets hung on 3 drinks? Seems like just another BS way to try and make money. Beer pong.... ohhh that brings back some memories.

News Flash, Hangovers are the result of being dehyrated. Make sure you drink enough water during your sampling session and you will not get hangovers. One water to every beer you drink. Following that rule, i've not had a hangover in a while.

In Reply To #12 Trust me man, I have a pretty good idea what causes hangovers. Experience. And yes, I do know that it is a result of dehyration. I was actually merely mentioning this ridiculous commercial I saw for another waste of money product. I thought it was funny. Thanks for the news flash anyways... Drinking water does the trick. Only problem you've got to piss all night long.

In Reply To #12 In Reply To #13 Dehyration is the cause of many of the hangover blues, but not all by a long shot. There are certain products you can drink and no matter how much water you put in your system, you gonna get hungover next day. From the web: Acetaldehyde is produced when your liver breaks down alcohol. A high level of acetaldehyde has a toxic effect on the body, which gives you a headache and causes body aches and nausea.(aka alcohol poisoning) Cogeners are chemicals contained in alcoholic beverages that are formed during the alcohol fermentation process. Cogeners cause a toxic reaction in the body and add to the headache and lightheadedness of a hangover. Dark liquors, such as red wine, brandy, whiskey, and tequila contain more cogeners and will generally cause a more severe hangover. Clear drinks, such as gin, vodka, or white rum generally contain fewer cogeners and are less likely hangover causes. (not always true by a long shot!) My commercial brewer pals tell me all the "esters" that add flavor and aroma to ales (which are brewed at warmer temps then lagers) also make good hangover candidates . Still we have some deadly lagers in the Forest. First nite here, the locals gave me very bad brew within 50 square kilometers, nexta morgen I thought I had died and went to bier hell, I still crack up thinking about it! Bastards!
