Hello fellow BP Women Beer Enthusiasts!

I would like to propose a new sort of fun within the BeerPal Women Beer Enthusiasts community.

Hannah and I have begun the BABE exchange. BABE is our acronym for:

Beer Assortment in a Box Extravaganza!

My first BABE shipment is en route from VA to OK as I type. I have titled this BABE:

Queen Quad.

Brews from VA, DC, MD and PA!

A queen's quantity from four special states/district.

All brewed with a passion to create pleasure for others. Just like special queens do for their admirers! ;)

Hannah has all this information in a BeerMail already, but we both thought it would be fun to share our BABE exchange with all the other cool women in the BeerPal community.

I invite others to pair up and create fun through the BABE exchange.

Come back here to get the scoop on the beers in our BABEs and to read our reviews.

Cheers to beer, women and the fun and friendships we create!

~ Melanie Grace [:X]

Hannah: Enjoy my wonderful BeerPal friend!

'Tis a fine thing you've done, Mel! Sending beer to Oklahoma is equivalent to the Berlin Airlift!

(Hannah, I feel for you, in that dustbowl of beer, I spent 3 years there in the early '70s, doesn't look like it's improved much since then.)

Darn, reading the title, I was thinking this was something else.

Harry Mudd's girls? '60s vintage girls are easy to find... what I really need is Deschutes, Surly, Firestone Walker... let's work on that transporter technology, OK? After all, refrigeration technology was driven by German lager! (and video tape by homemade porn, but that's a whole 'nother "non-beer discussion" topic, eh?)

So much for a women's forum. I shoulda never made a sarcastic comment. Now it's turned to porn. Sorry, ladies.

I once had a box that lived right here
But I filled it up with Okie beer

That box got addressed to an east coast place
To a beerpal gal named Melanie Grace

Some beers in the box are bold, others are mild
At least one beer in the box is off-the-charts wild

I hope they'll be loved, at the very least drank
I hope you won't write up reviews how they stank

I picked out for you each and every ale
You can see them on Tuesday if you check your mail

I remember a couple standouts Hannah sent from OK...

Thanks slowrunner! I am proud of my local beer. Oklahoma has come a looooong way and still moving in the right direction. I'm not much of a fan of Oklahoma otherwise; the breweries are about the best thing we have going in my opinion. I mean unless you enjoy chicken fried stuff, ignorance and tornadoes. [:p]

Don't forget the pecans! (pronounced, PEE-cans)[:D]

My time in OK was well before the dawn of craft beer, Lone Star was considered an import! The NCO club on base was my salvation, where I discovered Guinness!

I certainly admire anyone brewing in that sort of legal environment - last I heard, brewpubs were limited to 4% ABV (3.2% ABW), package sales over 4% ABV restricted to liquor stores, warm only.

The best illustration of OK liquor laws I can think of is the annual (at the time) referendum to allow liquor by the drink, without the flimsy artifice of a "private club." I always wondered how it always failed, by wide margins. Then I looked at the ballot language... "Yes" votes were subtracted from the number of registered voters to calculate the "No" votes. So, if you didn't vote at all, you voted against liquor by the drink! Clever, eh?

Oklahoma is OK, as the license plates used to say!

Bravo! You made my day Hannah! I LOVE the poem and appreciate your special touch! Super creative! You are my type of girlfriend!

Also, you have given me a special way to celebrate American Craft Beer Week! Many thanks!

Is it Tuesday yet? [:)]

Cheers!

I am in receipt of my BABE and I am overwhelmed with joy and gratitude! I am extremely excited to try all of the beers in my BABE but I must take a minute to add something more. Melanie, your shipment exemplifies why a forum for women beer enthusiasts is needed. Don't get me wrong, I have loved every trade I have ever done, but there was something so special about the box you packed for me, something only another girl could fully appreciate. Each beer carefully wrapped with a scrolled note tied to its beer by a fabric ribbon!!!! Even the safety packaging was attractive! Many, many thanks. Your package is not as beautiful and I am still creating your supplemental beer facts, but I pat myself on the back for getting back in the game and managing to get my BABE packed and onto a truck for you. I can assure you--I'm inspired. The next BABE I send will be better looking. (Maybe to you Qat). Can't wait to get to sipping. I have one chilling for after this baby goes to sleep tonight. Hooray, hooray!

I'm hoping to taste some of the beers you already sent, if Melanie is willing! [:p]

But I'm not opposed to putting together another trade! With Melanie's assistance, I might put together a different assortment than she sent. [:D]
