This weekend I'm headed back to Hershey, PA to attend my friend Melissa's (doll on UnTappd) 4th Annual Homebrew Party.

Melissa and her husband invite home brewers and tasters; the home brewers bring their best brews and the tasters bring an appetizer or a dessert.

There are scoring sheets, testings, home brewer stories and lots of beer camaraderie. There are also prizes for the first, second and third place winners!

Be sure to check back for a full report of this event! Last year's winners:

1st place: A chocolate stout
2nd place: Honey basil beer
3rd place: A coffee stout

My kind of beer! [:)]

Welcome mattfungus! I am so glad you could join us. [:X]

I will find out what kind of honey he used tomorrow night. Jake LOVES to talk about his home brews. Did I mention that Melissa and Jake had their wedding at Stoudt's Brewing Company in Adamstown, PA?

Hands down, their wedding was in the top three I have attended! It was so them...and so beer. A great couple!

It was actually my first choice last year but overall it came in second. It was INCREDIBLE! Melissa and Jake brew it regularly. If they have an extra bottle, I'll bring it along to next week's ABC meeting for you! [;)]

I'll happily trade a growler sling for that!

I asked Jake last night and he used Clover Honey. Nothing expensive.

And lots of tender loving care! [:I]

Jake is out of honey basil beer at the present moment but I told him about my new friend Qat and he said he will make sure I get a bottle or two. [:)]

He and his wife are coming down to visit me for a DC beer weekend, hopefully in the near future. He will bring the bottle or two at that time! Something to look forward to!

As you may have guessed, this was a group of guys, so I guess it could have been the only "collaboration" brew on Saturday night! [:p] [;)] [^]

I just stumbled on this beer-inspired nail art.

Nails and Ales http://nailsandales.com/

My favorite nails? Great Lakes Christmas Ale and have to cheer on Troeg's Perpetual IPA. Also, liking Big Boss Brewing’s Bad Penny Brown Ale nails on page 5.

This could be a great brewery idea for a beer festival. A big girl's answer to face painting! [:X]

Fun Stuff!
