Banjaluka’s Brewery’s long tradition of producing beer dates to 1873. It was founded by the monk of the “ Marija of the stars ” monastery for monasteryes needs. These monks belonged to the Trapistian order, well known throughout the world for their monastery tradition of brewing excellence and recipes that were kept a secret for centuries. Based on this recipe and German technology applied Banjaluka’s Brewery has commenced its brewing.Twenty years after, when the good word was wide spread about Banjaluka’s Brewery’s brewing excellence, it was registered a brewery and the mass production started. At the time the installed capacities were 50 000 hl of beer annually. Fifty years later (after the World War II) the brewery was reconstructed and production capacity increased to 500 000 hl of beer per year. In 1894, the constitutors of the Brewery had registrated the Brewery on account of the industrial production of beer. The Brewery entered into the structure of the industrial society Dalmacia in 1921, lodging its capital into the society at the same time. Banjaluka’s Brewery entered into the structure of the agroindustrial agricultural Combine Bosnian Krajina, being its member until 1989 when it became independent company. During 1991 a change of the structure of proprietorship was made and Banjaluka’s Brewery was registered as joint stock company in composite ownership , with one part of the capital in the public ownership and the other became the part of the Joint stock company by selling the internal stocks to its workers. Later, on the basis of the legal rules the capital of the company in the public ownership became national. At the same time Banjaluka’s Brewery was declared as a Company of the interest for The Republic of Srpska. At the beginning of 2003 the national capital was conveyed into the auctional, and that’s when the Banjaluka’s Brewery became joint stock company. In the end of 2004. investigational investments into the modernisation and enlargement of productive drive, with which the installed capacities were 50 000 hl of beer annually, were completed. At the beginning of 2006 major director of Banjaluka’s Brewery became the Investment Fund Altima with its residential place in London. Altima Partners made really brave and successful step in the construction of Banjaluka’s Brewery. Altima Global Special Situations Fund Ltd.by purchasing 53% of state capital took over the major ownership and in the first year of bussiness it increased capital. After two years of dealing Brewery and Altima Partners had the same goals – widely expansion of the market ( Great Britain, America and Canada ) , enlargement of the production and keeping the quality of the product.
