It’s a feeling that was created and fostered by Maurice and Hazel Glenn over decades as they watched their 11 children grow to be part of the larger Des Moines community. A feeling of family and friendship, where as children you could play kick-the-can in the front yard or sit at the dinner table and devour Maury’s fried bread, or as adults you could share a beer and a joke on the porch.1717 Brewing Company, started by three of the Glenn boys-Jerry, Phil, and Matt-is a tribute to their parents and what they built. Even their phone number is the same one the house used for over 40 years. Next time you’re in the neighborhood, come on by the house. We’ve got beer.
