Shared with PfoxyJohn after dinner. From his cellar/stash. Pinkish ruby pour, bubbly head. Cherries and berries, tart nose and flavor, light and refreshing, nice digestif. This is a happy beer.

brick red with a pick head. a little bubbly, but still goes down nice n smooth. one of the better, if not best kriek i've had. blows the solid lindemans out of the water. more tartness to do battle with the sweet cherries. sour, oak, and cherry sweetness on the palate with a light but lasting finish. really liked this one.

A hard pour scares up an almost three-finger thick, dirty, light tan colored head in my 25cl tulip glass. The beer is a dark, red plum color that shows a brilliantly clear, ruby hue when held up to the light. Aromas of cherries are noticeable as soon as I start to pour this brew; candied cherries in syrup, with a substantial fleshy cherry note and a touch of almond. The cherry aromatics are nice enough, but definitely well on the sweet side of things and they completely dominate the aroma.

Thankfully the flavor is not nearly as sweet as the aroma suggested. There is some sweetness here but it is nicely offset by a light tartness. The cherry flavors are also muted a bit compared to the aroma, so more of the other flavors are able to come out. Cherry flavors are still the most dominant flavor here with a nice fleshy cherry note, a touch of almond extract in the finish and a cherry-skin tannic character that adds some texture that lingers a bit on the tongue. The sourness while quite soft seems to have touches of acetic acid to it, though it mostly tastes of tartness from cherries. Light bodied enough to be quite quaffable, though the residual sugars definitely add some body.

This seems a bit fake in its über-cherry flavors in the aroma, though the flavor is a bit more under control. I like that this is not sickly sweet, it does have nice balance between sweet and tart, unfortunately it is not very complex, though it is quite drinkable.

Delicious, lovely and tempting. Mouth watering appearance. Very slight fruity aroma. Cannot detect alky once tasted. Big chunks of stuff in my glass from the bottom of the bottle. Very pleasing and satiisfying. A fine example of a fruit flavored sour brew. No bitter attributes in the finish and I’m sorry it’s gone.

You can currently purchase this beer at the LCBO in Ontario. I loosely call it a beer however. This pours red with a generous fluffy head and looks a lot like cream soda. The aroma is definitely sour cherries and sweet malt and the taste is sour cherries as well. Highly carbonated. Once you get the bottle unwrapped and into a glass, it's a great experience.

    375ml bottle
    6.0% abv
Milton LCBO Outlet #1 (Milton, Ontario, Canada)
    November 25, 2007
Bottle wrapper says 'Leifman's Kriekbier, biere aux cerises, 6% alc./vol'.
The beer was a beautiful ruby red in colour with a medium sized tan couloured head. The aroma was sour cherries and not much else. The mouthfeel was sour, full-bodied, slightly creamy and champagny. The flavour was powerfully sour cherries, and a huge bite on the back of the tongue.

Bottle: Murkey ruby-brown ale with a modest fluffy cap Aroma: wonderful blend of tart berry fragrances and musty blanket odours..excellent Favour follows aroma with other nuances essentially tartness from lacto tastes and berries fight candi sweetness to find balance and the tartness wins out marginally. I don’t like sweet krieks but as a commercial effort this is the best.

Pitch rubyred and darkmurkish brown colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is cherries and dark fruits. Flavour is cherry, some alcohol and dry fruits. Also some sourness in it, but the cherry is sweet enough to not make it too sour. Long sweetish aftertaste after a rather dry and sour feeling. Excellently balanced brew. Palate is slightly sticky, but still "a bit watery".

Enjoyed along side fresh cherries during my very own Kriek tasting. The standard Liefmans presentation, label hidden beneath. Pretty pink wrapping. The colour was a little darker compared to the Lindeman's. Good head formation, lacing. These fruit beers are always attractive, and the Lambic character make them all so tasty! Flavour was well received, bountiful fruit notes. A damper, thicker mouthfeel. Carbonation high (though only standard for the Lambic level) Another good offering I'd imagine most would enjoy.

Nice thick pinkish head with an excellent leave of suds sits on top of a reddish brown (or brownish red) liquid. Scents of yeast and cherries waft from the tulip. This is like the Lindemans Kriek only not as sweet or ballsy. Liefmans is much smoother and does not have the medicinal quality of it's competitor, but it has an unmistakable tartness of it's own. The finish is very dry, yet subtle. This is an excellent cherry lambic. I am not so sure it's worth the $9.00 I paid for it though.
