Serrano Pepper Ale is a delightful balance of the snappy, fruity flavor of serrano chile peppers with the delicate hoppy flavors of a pale ale. An ever-so-slight tingle of heat follows the announcement of the peppers in the ale's fragrant aroma.

Like its counterpart (St. Croix Maple Ale) this used to be a great beer. My how things have changed! This tastes like the dregs from a bad vat of salsa with some Leinie's dumped in. Doesn't anyone taste this stuff before they put it on the shelf? Also, chunks of some unidentified substance floating around. Yuk!

Serrano peppers? In beer? I usually pass on trying lagers, light ales and anything I can see through (me likey darker beers) but I like my spicy food, so my curiousity got the best of me. I was pleasantly surprised. Not too hoppy which allows the faintest hint of serrano pepper at the finish. This ale kept me coming back for more at a recent brewfest. Thanks to St. Croix for thinking outside the box...er...barrel.
