Strong and substantial, this dark ale is brewed using roasted malts, and is dry-hopped for a fuller flavour. Robust yet easy-drinking, this wholly traditional porter is one to savour.

Cask. Deep brown colour, small beigeish brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, chocolate, vanilla and some mild nutty and berryish notes. Flavour is roasted malts, dark berries, nutty, chocolaty as well as mild coffee and ashes as well. Nice.

Cask at the Ipswich Beer Festival 2004, gravity dispense. Colour is black / very dark ruby. Aroma is roast malts on an initially unpleasant background of vomit, gets better as the beer warms up. Flavour is much better, again: roast malts and coffee. Bitterness seems just right. Easy drinking.
