Silver Medal winner for Imperial India Pale Ale, Great American Beer Festival 2009. Besides Jolly Roger, this is probably Drake’s most renowned beer. An Imperial (or Double) IPA, Denogginizer is a big bold beer hopped with an abundant amount of Simcoe and Amarillo with a touch of Ahtanum and Chinook. Mashed with Crystal malt and Caramalt for color and flavor to help balance out the hop assault. Denogginizer is also Drake’s most powerful regular offering, at a whopping 10% alcohol by volume!

A decently dank hoppy nose, good body, not over cloying, big DIPA. The bitterness is strong and lingering but it really didn't have much flavor surprisingly. It wasn't bad drinking but far from standout imo.

My friend and beer accomplice brought this back from....somewhere. The High Sierra Musicfest, I think. What I found most impressive about this beer was the even-keeled balance of sweet malts and spicy hops. Many IIPAs do not bother with that balance, but this one nails it. Looked like a standard IIPA, that is, deep amber in color, light fizzy head. the carbonation seems to add a tartness to it that finishes very dry. A great beer and the second that I've had from Drake's.

a darker, very piney and thick double ipa with a sweet malt kick. this one almost stands out a little from the crowd, though all three of drake's offerings were good (the other 2 were better) and a little unique.

Enjoyed this out of a growler, which came straight from the brewer. Simply incredible aroma. Like someone dumped a ton of hops in your back yard, sprayed it with water and the aroma seeps into your house. HUGE hops with incredible pine notes. Words can't describe how good this is fresh. I will stop now and remember.....ahhhhhh

On draft at Hollingshead Deli, Orange, CA This copper colored gem is a an excellent balance between hops and malt. And, as others have noted, far too drinkable. Great malty, stick flavors balanced by hoppiness.

A new addition to the always hop-heavy draught line-up at O'Brien's -- and the very first Drake's beer I've seen there, too. And while I must say that I thought this was pretty good..., I'm not so sure about it winning 1st place in the most recent Hayward Double IPA fest/competition.

Came to me in a standard shaker "pint" glass, a bit colder than what I prefer, to be honest. But I was thirsty, and didn't want to wait around for this to reach proper cellar-ish temps.

Yummy, with a citrus bite from the hops present in full force. Can make a few guesses as to what the hop bill for this beer might be like, but would rather simply enjoy the end result.

Nice hoppy aroma, that immediately reminded me of Dreadnaught (an outstanding DIPA that I can only rarely enjoy back East) -- especially in terms of the piney (lemony?) hop nose.

Malt bill does the job of backing up the hops, but I think it's here that some subtle flaws start to appear in the make up of this beer. Namely, the mouthfeel seems a little on the thin side -- perhaps almost "quirky". As this warmed, it seemed to thin out more and more, exposing more and more of the 9%ABV to the senses. Now, don't get me wrong -- some alcoholic heat is not entrirely unwelcome with something like this. I just wish it's appearence late in the game didn't coincide with the thinness of the beer as it warmed up to cellar- and room-temps.

A fine beer, for sure, but found myself growing a little tired of it approx. half-way through the glass. I enjoyed the hop bill quite a bit, but it's just a shame that the malt bill was a little neglected, IMO....

Orange gold color. Medium white foamy head. Aroma is floral and sweet. A medium bodied Imperial India Pale Ale. Malts are fruity and sweet. Touches of caramel. Hops are grapefruity and citrusy. Nicely balanced, with the malts being slightly in the forefront. Smooth flavors. Hides the 9% alcohol very well. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter

This IIPA pours with a deep amber body topped by a thick head with a good amount of lacing. The aroma is slightly sweet and malty yet bitter and hoppy with nice piney notes. The flavor is similar but with a slight medicinal note. Full bodied, smooth and warming.
