Strong aroma is surprisingly hoppy, more at an IPA than a porter; it still has that smoky porter note with hints of quality coffee and, yes, cherry. Pours a gorgeous sable with a thick, fine-bubbled tan head that sticks around a bit. Flavor is smoky like a good porter, quite hoppy like an IPA - is this a CBA in disguise? Coffee, cherry, molasses and - varnish? - notes dance about on the palate. Texture has about average firmness and fizz. A distinctive and interesting porter, definitely worth a try if you like the darker beers.

Bottled. Pitch black colour, small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts, liquorice, some mild notes of liquorice. Flavour is quite much the same. Very balanced cocoa and liquorice in aftertaste.

Pours out in a black colour with a firm tan coloured head. Really sticky sweet aroma of brown sugar, white sugar, caramel and milky chocolate. Full-bodied with sticky sweet notes of chocolate, cookies, and boring milky French coffee. Long sweet finish of chocolate sauce, caramel with hints of hazelnuts. Way too sweet and it's definitely lacking soul. A Joy Division Porter?

I cant belive this is only averaging 3.4% on the reviews. Ten pin imp. porter is a fine brew, nice complexity in both aroma and taste. Speaking of there were semi- sweet chocolate malts, coffee bitterness, vanilla, smoke, and hints of dark fruit. I picked up several brews from smaller local breweries in Colorado on my trip and this has been the best, so far. I didnt care for the wax top however.

uh.. DOn't know what to say. Everything was fine then I tasted it. Did not seem like a porter to me at all. I am pretty sure that is was a very bad bottle. Someone with me at the time has had it in the past and said it was not good. The fiance stole my bottle and liked it.... I must try it again

’05 rating: Smells like grapefruit juice. Thin in body and flavor. Some chocolate. AR-3.5 AP-4 FL-3 PA-3 OV-3.25 ’07 rating: The grapefruit is just creosote in the younger bottle and there is much more carbonation. This is not as good as the older bottle, actually.

Unlike the only other SKA beer Ive had this didnt smell like dog shit. Instead a sweet chocolate aroma. It poured a almost black with a beige head. A roasted flavor with some chocolate and raisins. A good beer for sho.

Poured a dark brown with a good tan head which didn't leave much lacing. Aroma was of chocolate and coffee and vanilla. Flavor was of chocolate and coffee and the sweetness of vanilla. Creamy mouthfeel. Overall though not a great beer.

Eh, another imperial porter with not much going on. In fact, maybe Gonzo has more than this (and I'm not much of a Flying Dog fan). Pour was dark brown with a decent initial tan had. Lacing was nice too. The aroma was coffee, chocolate, vinous notes, dark fruits, maybe a touch of molasses. The flavor was similar with coffee being most prominent. Coffee was a bit bitter and not so good, with a slightly cloying sweetness underneath, just not all that good. Mouthfeel was syrup-like, lightly carbonated.
