Rahr's Red is a delicious, medium-bodied amber beer. As it crosses over your tongue, you'll notice a bit of caramel-like malt character. You'll also notice a slight hops bitterness-there to remind you that despite its subtle flavoring Rahr's Red is a Texas beer.

Clear red amber color, lacing off-white foam head. Caramel aroma and light bitter caramel taste. No aftertaste lasting noticable. (Dallas Airport Lounge 201505)

Had as Texas Red and Buffalo Butt. Pours a slightly hazy mahogany with a thin eggshell head. Malty aroma has a cloves note and a hint of hops. Flavor features malty, cloves, hay, and subtle caramel notes. Smooth, firm, fizzy mouthfeel rounds out a decent beer.

Pours a clear copper brown with a thick, but short-lived, fizzy off-white head. Aroma is a nicely sweet caramel malty blend with some lager yeast character. Body starts with decent viscosity and caramel maltiness. Some toasted malt flavor shows up toward the semi-dry finish.

Thanks to Brett for this Buffalo Butt. Pours a hazy amber with a billowy but transient tan head and light lacing. Good solid aromas of toasted malt and light bittersweet caramel. Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel that yields to a tangy finish. A citrus surprise rises above the flavors of lightly roasted malts, giving this lager more vibrant character and less sweetness than most Viennas.

Pours pale brown with perfect clarity with creamy, scattered head. Earthy base notes and light roastiness comprise the aroma. The flavor is rich and hearty, not unsatisfying like so many reds. There's a lot of depth and complexity to the malt character and I just really enjoyed the taste overall. Light bodied with an impressively creamy mouthfeel.

It's rare that I have a beer this horrible. Pour looked like iced tea, no head at all. Flavor was flat and like drinking a liquified dog in a cardboard box. I drank about 3 oz of it and it was all I could take and down the drain it went. Truly memorable...and not in a good way.

"Noogfest 06". The aroma was sweet with some caramel coming through and was malty. The appearance was a light amber with a small, white head on top that diminished quickly. The mouthfeel was light-bodied and very clean but a bit boring with not much in the complexity department. The flavor was malty, somewhat sweet, with some breadiness and just plain boring. Overall, just a typical amber lager here and has pretty good sessionability but I will pass on this one if I see it again.

Deep amber/red colored pour with an ok initial head and lacing... on par anyway. The aroma was bready and nutty with some caramel underneath. The flavor was all of that with some toasted notes creeping in. Light body with some hop support in the aftertaste. Not as crisp and clean as needed to stand out (some light fruity ester flavors, seemed to not be from the hops), but certainly a drinkable beer.

A very clear true amber that leans to the redder end of the amber spectrum. The head is a nice sized, slightly sticky foam with appropriate staying power. The aroma is light. The flavor is extrememly clean a light toast and caramel malt in the middle and a small, slightly metallic bitterness lingers in the finish. Borders on bland, but definitely a techinically flawless lager.

This was a another good brew from rahr! taste is similar to samual adams lager, but not as wood-like...some head, little lacing, RUBY in color, a satisfying brew!
