The rich, malty aroma that rises from the thick, foamy head of this deliciously dark brew was first brewed in 1996 by the careful blending of two- and six-row malts and several specialty malts, including Munich and Dark Chocolate and two specialty hops. It's available November through March.

Aroma: 6 | Appearance: 7 | Mouthfeel: 5 | Flavor: 4 | Overall: 4

Pours a very dark crimson color with a one finger white head that will not go away. Lots of carbonation. Aroma is malty with hints of malted milk balls and roasted caramel. Tastes is stale to say the least. Reminds me of powdered rust for some reason. Dissipates somewhat but not much. Finishes off like a typical bock. Not very good.

Pours translucent mahogany with a thick and rather fine light tan head. Aroma is not strong, but promises roast malt and caramel. Flavor is stronger, toasty and earthy, roast malt with a little caramel and a sweet hint. Texture has average body and not much fizz. If not outstanding, still OK.

poured a light brown color with a creamy tan head. Aroma of roasted malts, espresso beans and caramel. Mouth feel was light for a doppel, and taste is a bit watery initially. Decent taste but this is a weak doppel

Actually a decent resemblance of the style. One of the better Leinenkugel's that I had. Good caramel and bready flavors. Just enough hops to balance the sweetness out. Dark brown appearance with a semi-cream texture. Better than expected and worth the try.

Leiny's makes good looking beer, unfortunately that is their best characteristic. This is actually a decent bock beer, no where near a doppel though. If you don't judge it based on style it isn't bad, but weak on aroma, flavor and mouthfeel overall.

Big butt pours a dark amber body, with a light tan head, and medium carbonation. Aroma is very light with hints of coffee and caramel. Mouthfeel is kinda watery, not very substancial. Flavor is rather light but chocolate and roasted malts are present, it also had a slight metallic twinge. Overall its not a real dopplebock; too thin, but its not bad and it is drinkable.

this one i thought was better than all of there fruit beers, but i would not buy it again. I liked the dobblebock i made more. Theres was a mass produced cheap imitation , the 73 folks could of went back to the drawing board with this one.

Love this dark beer - You must visit the leinie brewery if you are ever in Chip Falls area. Free tour, free beer, good times. Then head south to EC and state street. Plenty of beer on tap.

This is a good dark beer. I am a hugh fan of leinies though and i may be bias. Not too dark. Great aroma and flavor. It's a little hard going down but i can get over that.
