Pours a clear yellow-orange with a medium white head. Not much aroma to speak of, just a bit of hops. The taste is almost as bland as the smell. It's not that it tastes bad, it's just not that interesting. It doesn't seem bland in the "refreshing summer beer" kinda way. Just skip it.

My second of two beers from the hitherto unknown Kennebec River Brewery -- complete with their trandmark freakish logo (the Sun toasting a beer and giving the thumbs-up to a group of rafters apparently plunging to their watery deaths). I had no idea that the very same river that I see every day (working in Bath ME, that is) would ever be considered to have dangerous white-water rapids... but I digress....

Anyway, this is kinda of a let down from what I thought to be a very good example of the "Summer Ale" style (to wit: Gritty's Vacationland Ale). While that particular beer was dry and crisp enough to give full reign to the hop profile, this particular beer tends to play things a little too "safe" and close-to-the-vest, IMO.

Looks good, smells fine, tastes fine, fine in the mouthfeel, and drinkable enough, but just doesn't seem to be much more than just "fine". That is to to say, there isn't much here that really makes much of an impression. I do like the fact that this features a fairly robust hop profile (I'm guessing Cascade, or Goldings), but there isn't enough here to really work with. Whether that be due to malt profile not giving way to the hops, or the yeast being a little too prevalent, but it just seems that this beer is all dressed up and has no where to go.

Refreshing enough, but overall this doesn't seem to have a whole to say for itself, that other Mainer beers haven't said already. A "fine" drop, nothing more, nothing less.
