Snagged a bolttle of this from the bed&breakfast that Karen and I were recently staying at in tiny Isleton CA (population 800, elevation 1). No clue on the age of the single 12 oz'er, but I guess it was left over from a previous guest's six pack or mixed sampler pack from this brewery.

Speaking of which, this is yet another place that I've had my eyes on for quite a while. Spent quite a few years while growing up in a town not far from Camino CA (Pollock Pines, to be exact), but have never had the chance to get back that way to investigate this brewery. So while this may not be the best way to finally get a small taste of what Jack Russell Brewing of Camino CA has to offer, it's a long-overdue start!

Lemon-yellow in body, without a whole lot in the way of foam. Enough head and carbonation to give this some zip, but that's about it. The nose is also a bit on the inconsequental side of things, IMO.

But this beer does have a nicely sharp and crisp mouthfeel, giving the hops ("Saaz baby, yeah!") plenty of breathing room. And although I prefer these sort of beers to be a little less "angular" (if that makes any sense) -- perhaps a bit less "cut&dry", so to speak -- I did find this to be an enjoyable drop of beer.

While not earth-shattering, it does intrigue me more about this small brewery near Apple Hill in Camino -- and reminded me that I wanted to treat myself to a mixed sampler case of this (via mail-order).... ;)

Music: Mekong Delta's "The Music Of Erich Zann".

Medium gold color. Medium head. Aroma is malty with a touch of cardboard and some other weird smell that kind of hard to identify. Its not wile or bad, just sorta weird and unidentifiable. A medium bodied pilsner. Malts are mild and slightly sweet. Hops are very mild and a touch floral. It’s very drinkable, and way better than most pilsners, but its still kind of average. Smooth taste. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet.
