A dark, unfiltered ale with a harmony of rich coffee, chocolate and caramel flavors. Rolled oats added into the mash of heavily roasted grains results in a creamy oatmeal smoothness. Assertive hopping balances the sweetness of this black brew with proportional bitterness. A brew of this complexity is nearly a meal within itself but is a perfect accompaniment to hot steamed mussels or oysters on the half-shell. Also recommended for dessert courses.

The very characteristics that the brewer cites are the very things that this brew appears to be missing, most notably fullness and complexity. It was somewhat bland and lacked any head at all. Mediocre at best.
