In the true tradition of Hansa, Hansa Pilsener is no ordinary beer. Brewed with the kiss of the Saaz hop to be bracingly crisp and refreshingly different. Brewed by Kagalagadi Breweries Ltd, Gaborone, Botswana under license from SABMiller International Bv.

Not to be confused with the Norwegian Hansa Pilsener, the Namibian Hansa Pilsner, or even the South African-brewed Hansa, this one is distinctively Botswanan. In the tradition of St. Louis Lager, Kagalagadi Breweries had brewed another almost tasteless beer. The pour from the bottle here in Gaborone is pale yellow with the thinnest of white heads. Well carbonated but very light, thin palate. No nose to speak of; maybe a little fresh grass but definitely no apparent Saaz. Nothing of note in the flavor either; grassy, mild, light and the only noticeable hops is a faintly bitter finish. Rated it lower than St. Louis only because of the false Saaz promise.
