Loral hops were released in 2016 and quickly became one of our brewers’ favorite varieties. It was highlighted in our single hop IPA series, Stone Hop Revolver IPA, and was the featured hop in the hugely popular Stone Ghost Hammer IPA. Then there’s Dr. Rudi, which has been around since 1976. Originally known as Super Alpha, this hop brings classic piney and herbal notes, which pairs it perfectly with the oral, citrusy aroma of Loral. A pairing like this was bound to happen. Some might even call it inevitable.

Rated June 2018. 12oz bottle pours with a clear gold body that supports a thin dirty white head of foam. The aroma offers up pineapple, tangerine, a berry note and then a sense of malty breadiness. The taste delivers juicy, tangy and bitter hoppiness with pineapple, guava and tangerine flowing into lemon grass and grapefruit like hop bitterness. Nice. Near the end a pleasant mild earthy tea note is noticed creating another tasty facet to the experience.

Pours clear topaz with a thick and fairly persistent eggshell head. Aroma gives up fresh-cut pine and subtle fresh malt notes. Flavor delivers piney hops, fresh malt, a little hop bitterness and a sharp floral hint. Mouthfeel presents decent body and jazzy fizz. Inevitably you will have a beer adventure.
