Justin and Devon of 7venth Sun are talented brewers and our very good friends, so we naturally chose them as our first collaboration when we opened in 2014. Their beers had informed our understanding of sour and funky beers, so we decided to brew this beer along those lines. Southerly Love is fermented by our house Brettanomyces blend and undergoes a light brewhouse acidification. A heavy dose of tropical, aromatic hops adds complexity and intrigue. The result is a synthesis of wild yeast and hop flavors, melded into a balanced and cohesive beer - a liquid expression of our breweries’ harmonizing philosophies. The original was dry-hopped with Simcoe and Amarillo, this version with Idaho 7, Cascade, and Crystal.

Pours hazy apricot with a fairly thick porcelain head. Aroma features tart pomme fruit and hints of malt and hops. Flavor delivers tart fruit plus subtle woody hops. Body leaves something to be desired, though fizz is good. Feel the love.
