As a special treat for lovers of big, complex stouts, the Imperial Stout "X" series offers a year-long roster of limited releases, each with a significant variation. This time out we spotlight the addition of tart cherries to fermentation as well as a lactic souring on the brewhouse. The result is a perfect marriage of robust, smoky maltiness and bracing tartness.

Pours opaque coffee brown with a thick and rather persistent tan head. Aroma delivers roast malt, tangy cherry, molasses, and subtle mocha tones - very tempting. Mouthfeel ramps up everything, especially the cherry, and tosses in a little toffee as well. Mouthfeel features thick, viscous body and plenty of fizz. I needed this after a particularly s***ty day at work!
