Imperial American Bock Shmaltz Bock Bock has spent months in a blend of bourbon barrels, including Jim Beam, Heaven Hill, and Buffalo Trace. Barrel-aged Bock Bock gains its toasty, rich malt body and nutty caramel flavor from distinctive European malts, such as Vienna, Munich and Crystal, to make a traditional bock base.

Bocks aren't one of my favorite styles...but I enjoy a clean quality one. Shmaltz rarely disappoints. Semi-creamy texture, with some heavy malty/bready and bourbon flavors. Mildly hopped to cut down the sweetness a bit. Semi-cloudy medium brown appearance with an off-white head. This is one that I'd get again.

Pours clear chestnut with a fairly thick light tan head. Strong aroma has notes of caramel, toasted malt, and pomme fruit. Bourbon-soaked wood comes forth in the flavor and takes over the show but lets the caramel, toasted malt and fruity tones share the stage. Body is firm and strong, while fizz is subtle but lasting and finish is fruity, woody and bourbony. (Bourbony? Is that a word?) Don’t be chicken - this bock rocks!
